Carswell Cottages - Rose Cottage
South Hams
View on Google MapsThe Southwest Coast Path is minutes away on foot, and Plymouth's attractions lie within easy reach by car. Rose Cottage sits on a working farm among other holiday properties, yet remains secluded enough to feel like a proper retreat. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a hot tub for five make it a comfortable base for a family seeking both relaxation and access to coastal walking.
Downstairs, the kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering—gas hob, electric range, dishwasher, and French doors that open onto a split-level patio where the hot tub sits. A games room with table football adjoins the patio area. The living and dining space flows across the ground floor. Upstairs, the main bedroom has an en-suite shower; two further bedrooms share a family bathroom. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included, along with firewood for the wood burner. The garden has a BBQ, seating areas, and parking for two cars. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The property is non-smoking.
The patio is split-level and there are steps down to the garden, so worth knowing if mobility matters. Check-in is after 16:00, checkout before 10:00.

Looks nice, but solo travelers are obviously not welcome. Breakfast hamper is only for 2+ people. So we solo travelers are supposed to eat what...? Can't book some huts either if you come alone. And this is in 2026, people. Shame on you.

Lovely old semi-detached Boundary Cottage - a pleasant size for 4 - woodburner was excellent - sandyford oven fine to cook with after a little practice - bring an oven thermometer you know is accurate - day bed in big bathroom made for a unique en suite experience - great quiet location in countryside - Boundary and Shepherds cottages are cleverly private from each other so not overlooked - Wadham Rocks beach about 20 minutes walk. Enjoyed Christmas here.

Having stayed in several of these lovely cottages over the last couple of years we can thoroughly recommend Corner Cottage and Shepherds Cottage where we had a longer stay this winter. The cottages are in a tranquil and unspoilt area. There is a lot to explore and so much to do. Beautiful beaches and the coastal path nearby, Dartmoor not too far, Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers almost on the doorstep both equally pretty with some good pubs. The cottages are well equipped with lovely views over the countryside and plenty of wildlife to see.... it really is far from the madding crowd but reasonably accessible. Thank you to Jo and her team for making us welcome.

This was our third trip to Lambside House and we were impressed with the renovations. We had a lovely weekend. It’s a great place for a couple of families to enjoy the Devon coast and countryside. Very spacious and comfortable with everything you need. Not so good if you want/need to home from work as the WiFi is very intermittent and 4\5G coverage non existent in places. The hot tub seemed beyond our capabilities, which was a shame as the kids were really looking forward to using it. However, I’m sure it’s good once you get it working. Jo was, as ever, really helpful and on hand whenever we needed anything or had a dumb question! Would definitely recommend and would come back.
