Castle Cottage is a two-bedroom base for families or groups of four within a larger holiday complex near Totnes. The ground floor holds a double and two single beds, with a bathroom serving both. Upstairs, the living room opens onto a terrace, and the kitchen is fitted for self-catering with a dishwasher, microwave and fridge. Wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. One dog is welcome.

The complex offers substantial facilities beyond the cottage walls. Two heated swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas and a steam room sit indoors, while an outdoor 60-foot pool operates seasonally. A large indoor play area contains slides, table football and pool tables; outside, children's play equipment includes a Wendy house and football field. There's a shallow learning bay in one pool for young swimmers, and a mother and baby changing facility with wet room. An all-weather tennis court and badminton hall are on site. A laundry room with washing and tumble-drying is available by slot meter. The grounds have a shared BBQ area and ample parking for cars and boats.

No smoking is permitted in the cottage or any facilities. A stream runs through the mill grounds. Check-in is after 16:00 and departure before 09:30.

We have been to Tuckenhay mill twice now, and both times have been extremely pleasant. There is plenty to do, including two very nice swimming pools, which the children absolutely love. The cottage we stayed in was clean and well equipped also warm and cozy. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Such a beautiful place to be, to relax, to have fun and keep in the best memories. I holidayed here as a child in the early & mid 80s, and returning after 40+ years with a child of my own, I was delighted to find it has had subtle and minimal improvements. It is still a cosy, warm, comfortable and well facilitated location with everything you need to both chill out and keep the kids content! The cottages are comfortable, clean and very nicely put together with stunning views over hillsides and streams. The various swimming pools are sizeable and superbly well-kept. The sauna and steam rooms are a lovely addition, too. Suffice to say, we are already planning when we will return... and it won't be as long as 40 years from now!

Expensive but worth it. Location wise - no phone signal for the whole time we stayed. There is nothing nearby apart from a couple of puns - The Waterman Arms is worth it. Good for walks but hilly.

First time we have stayed at this hidden gem. Our cottage was clean, warm and very well equipped. The on site facilities are superb, the extensive grounds are beautiful and peaceful and the only possible improvement we can think of would be the addition of a bar and restaurant. On second thoughts they might change the whole character of the place. Lovely walks from our doorstep and lots of tourist attractions and lovely towns within a 30 minute drive.
