AA five-pennant touring park five miles from Dartmouth, set within a family theme park
About Woodlands Grove Caravan and Camping Park
Woodlands Grove holds AA five-pennant gold status and occupies a peaceful, well-wooded corner of the Woodlands Family Theme Park estate near Blackawton, about five miles inland from Dartmouth. Generously sized pitches for tents, motorhomes and tourers are tucked away from the rides and busiest visitor areas, and stays of two nights or more include free entry to the adjoining theme park, zoo farm and falconry centre—a significant draw for families wanting to combine camping with a full day out.
Facilities are family-focused and well maintained: toilet and shower blocks, family bathrooms, launderette, games and TV room, and a small shop for essentials. Most pitches have electric hook-up, and site Wi-Fi covers the main camping areas. Dogs are welcome, with a dedicated walking area and day kennels for when they need to sit out the rides. An indoor heated pool operates close by for cooler days.
The park's own restaurant and takeaway save an evening trip out, and the surrounding Devon lanes feel genuinely rural once the theme park gates close. Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands and the coast path are all within a short drive.

What visitors say
From Chad and Lauren: It was a solid campsite in a great location. We really enjoyed our stay and didn’t find it nearly as bad as some of the more negative reviews suggest. The hedges dividing the pitches work well and give each plot a decent amount of privacy. The facilities were cleaned daily, which was appreciated, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The wardens had a nice laid-back attitude. The on-site food was reasonably priced compared to what we’ve seen at other places. Overall, we had a really good time and would happily come back. Definitely worth considering if you’re in the area.

Have stayed here for 5 Halloween breaks in my caravan. What an amazing place for an out of season break. Kids (now teens) and adults alike love it. Spacious pitches, tidy site and friendly staff. Some may say the washroom facilities are a bit dated but they're always spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water. Great little games room, bring change and table tennis set to make the most of it. Small but functional, enclosed dog walk area. And the best bit is free entry to Woodlands Family Theme Park if you stay for 2+ nights. I'll review separately.

I’ll preface to say that I’m not a fan of camping, but was giving it a go with the family. It’s the start of the summer holidays, so the place is full. Pitches seem okay in size but there aren’t a lot of gaps or open areas elsewhere if you wanted space to run around and play. It also brings its share of noise, but most people kept it quiet. Significant slope throughout so prepare to slide down the tent in the night and sink into your chair unable to get up. We were right by a water point but a bit of a walk to the toilet block. I found the facilities really dirty. Hair, dirt, toilet roll on the floor. Toilet roll clogging the sink. Morning and night, I never saw it clean. The theme park is good and has kept the kids entertained for two days. But I wouldn’t camp again.

We camped and it was great. Good size pitches and there's either the big open field at the back or lots of smaller areas with about 6 pitches. Nice big shower & toilet block with games room above. Loads of water outlets. Camping comes with the theme park tickets which is on site. A very enjoyable visit for all the family.
