The Pump House

South Staffordshire

View on Google Maps

The Pump House stands on the Staffordshire and Shropshire border, part of a historic 4000-acre estate centred on Chillington Hall. This converted engine house—once responsible for supplying water to the Hall and its farm buildings—sits within grounds that open seasonally to visitors, with public footpaths and bridleways crossing the parkland year-round. The setting offers direct access to Capability Brown landscaping, woodland and lake, alongside proximity to Codsall Wood and the wider countryside that defines this corner of the region.

Inside, the property is arranged over two floors. The ground floor contains an open-plan living space with a wood-burning stove, dining area and kitchen equipped to cook proper meals. Upstairs is a bedroom with a super king bed and an en-suite bathroom featuring both a bath and walk-in shower. Essentials including Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are covered. The front garden has a patio with seating, and there is parking for one car; one pet is welcome provided it is kept on a lead.

The location works well for exploring both Staffordshire and Shropshire—Ludlow and Worcester are within easy reach, while Ironbridge Gorge, Dudley Zoo, Stafford Castle and the Potteries are all accessible drives away. Codsall railway station is 2½ miles distant, and Birmingham city centre roughly 30 minutes' drive. No smoking inside.
