overall solid, comfy accommodation in a gorgeous location with a stunning view over the water. the walls between rooms are, however, paper thin - so you can hear absolutely everything the other guests are doing

The location was amazing, and the accommodation was a 9/10. Only 9/10 due to small areas of mould in the bathroom (upper corners due to lack of ventilation) everywhere else was clean and well presented. However, the thing that really gave this booking a 0/10 and left a bitter taste, was the owners attitude toward us, his guests. We arrived during a storm. There was a power cut that night, and a tree was blown over, landing right accross the entrance/exit. We informed the owner who advised to stay put that night and go next door (hotel) as they had power. Although it was a bit nervy with strong winds and rain that evening, we saw the blessing of being so close to the hotel, so went there for dinner. They gave us a warm welcome and even filled our flask of hot water so we could have coffee when we returned back to the lodge. As luck would have it, my wife had brought a candle, so we also enjoyed coffee by candlelight that evening. Despite the storm howling outside, we had a good night's sleep. At 10am, there was still no power. I went outside to get phone reception, to be surprised by the owner asking me, that despite his earlier text message telling us to leave, why I was still there? I advised I received no message (no reception in the lodge). He then abruptly 'told us to leave!!) I was quite upset at his manner. We had endured the storm, and now his rude manner. I even told him we were on our honeymoon, to which he replied 'so what!!'. I pointed out his rude manner, but he started arguing with me, to which at this point I had had enough. I just told my wife we needed to leave. And so ended our abrupt stay at Letterfinlay lodge. I totally understood his predicament as the owner, having the inconvenience of the storm and the implication of this on him personally and his accomodation. But I got the distinct impression he was not at all concerned regards us as paying guests, and certainly not as people. I also suspect (from other reviews) there will be a response of blame on us, his guests. Please just be nice to your guests. They are ultimately your livelihood. Edited: Like I mentioned. He responded as usual, with a blaming character assassination of his guest. Inability to take any criticism. Very unprofessional!
