What visitors say
Stayed here in our campervan. Lovely welcome. Pitches well separated with trees and shrubs. Facilities spotless. Mostly campers walking the west Highland way on site, so a nice vibe on site. Lots of walks on the doorstep, with tyndrum and train halt right beside you. Dry and warm at time of staying, didn't have a single midge!! Pods and hostel areas looked amazing too. Lovely place, will definitely be back.

I have a real problem rating this place. On one hand, I know that the area around Tyndrum is one of the most expensive tourist regions in Scotland, and the staff were genuinely very friendly and helpful. On the other hand, the standard of the accommodation itself turned out to be unacceptable to me. For comparison—we had previously spent two nights at Auchengower Park, paying £110 a night for the whole family. We had two bedrooms with comfortable beds, excellent bedding and towels, a living room, a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom, and a terrace. Then we stayed two nights in Port Augustus for £109 a night; besides a similar standard of accommodation, we also had a second bathroom and a private hot tub on the terrace that we could use without restriction. Meanwhile, at the Trekker Hut, we paid £110 a night, yet bedding cost extra and, in practice, consisted of a sleeping bag, a sheet, and a pillow. The beds were bunks with hard, plastic-covered mattresses, and for someone 186 cm tall, they were simply too short; I had to sleep with my feet resting against the metal bed frame. An electric kettle and a microwave were provided, but there weren't even any mugs, so to have coffee in the morning, I had to buy disposable cups at a nearby gas station. Someone might say: "But it’s a hostel, designed mainly for young people and mountain enthusiasts arriving by train. It’s not the place for you." And indeed—when planning this stay, I had thought: "We just need a place to sleep. We’ll be spending the whole day out, so why pay more?" The problem was that it was impossible to even get a decent night's sleep. The property is completely ill-equipped to deal with the plague of tiny, biting midges that make life miserable in this part of Scotland during the summer. While one small window does have a mosquito net, the cabin otherwise lacks effective ventilation. On a hot night, the air becomes stifling up by the ceiling—where the top bunks are located—making sleep impossible. The moment you crack the door open to let in some fresh air, dozens of midges swarm inside. By the time you manage to close it, it’s already too late. The result? A sleepless night and dozens of itchy bites. Of course, I don’t blame the property itself for this—midges are simply part of the Scottish landscape. I just felt that, at this price point, the standard of accommodation should have been better suited to local conditions. Ultimately, I concluded that I had made a poor choice. For just a little more money—about £50 extra—I could have booked much more comfortable accommodation and actually gotten a good night's sleep. And if saving money was the priority, I could just as easily have stayed an hour’s drive away from Tyndrum. I had a car, so that extra travel time wouldn't have mattered much. I had been determined to stay in Tyndrum, but looking back, I realize that was a big mistake.

Stayed in one of the Lodges for a night on our way to Sky. The lodge was very homely and cosy with a parking space right outside. We all agreed it was very pleasant and wished we could have stayed longer. The lodge was full equipped and the wifi was excellent. Just a short walk from the local pub yet in the heart of the wonderful countryside.

I have stayed here 4 times now. The location is great as it's next to Tyndrum Lower station and lots of walks. I have stayed in the cabin, hut and hostel and definitely prefer the hostel - particularly when cooking my own meals. When I first visited in 2022, the receptionist was great, but since then they have been replaced with the rudest, most unhelpful people (as other reviewers have mentioned). It's worth a stay here if you are willing to ignore their cheery disposition. Recently saw an ad there recruiting for people to "greet" guests as they arrive - we received no such greeting! If you're doing WHW, don't do your laundry here. Cheaper options are available elsewhere.
