Tibbiwell Lodge

Tibbiwell Lodge is a ground-floor studio in the Cotswolds village of Painswick, accessible without steps. You walk straight into an open-plan living space that combines the bedroom, sitting area and kitchen, making it straightforward for families or friends sharing the space. A kingsize bed sits alongside a sofa bed (double), so four people can sleep here, though the layout means they're not separated by walls.

The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering: electric oven, hob, microwave and fridge mean you can cook proper meals rather than relying on the breakfast bar for everything. A washing machine is on hand. The shower room has a heated towel rail. WiFi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. One small dog can stay free, and you get private parking for one car; an electric charging point is available if needed.

Painswick itself is a compact village of honey-coloured stone cottages with pubs, tea rooms and independent shops within walking distance—the Painswick Hotel is nearby. The lodge sits 200 yards from the village centre. You have use of a shared patio with garden furniture. There's a bike store on the property. No smoking is permitted inside.

Amazing experience. Richard the owner is a sweet and helpful person. And the view was fantastic. We have really enjoyed our time together. Thanks Tibbiwell lodge

This b&b was our only bad experience in the Cotswolds. The owner was friendly until we saw the twin room and asked to change. Then he became immediately hostile and it was an uncomfortable situation for the remainder of our stay. The room had that musty old room smell, was bare and dark, and there was no promised ensuite. However the Romanian housekeeper did her best to make our stay pleasant and made a nice breakfast.

Beautiful location. Janina who served my breakfast was lovely and the food was excellent. Rooms are old fashioned with creaky wooden floors and balcony looked out on to a yard full of builders rubble and equipment. Sink had no stopper and bath had no handrail which was very dangerous as you had to stoop getting out of the bath because of sloped ceiling. Owners and staff cars take up over half of the available parking spaces.Overpriced for what you get and if it wasn't for Janina , I would give it a one star.

We had a lovely 2-night stay at Tibbiwell Lodge in Painswick as part of our Cotswold Way hiking trip. Janina was a wonderful host - very accommodating and helpful. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Small shower, but workable. Breakfasts were delicious, made to order, and there was plenty of food. Would highly recommend staying here!
