About The Old Lodge
Grazing common land stretches out around The Old Lodge, giving the hotel a rare open outlook for a Cotswolds property so close to Stroud. The surrounding common is given over to walking and cycling routes, and the wide skies and grassland views are part of the draw before guests even step inside.
There are just six rooms, each en suite, kept comfortable and roomy rather than fussy, with free WiFi and drinks available in room. Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, serving a full menu including a Sunday roast and vegetarian choices, with kids' meals also catered for. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, plus a 24 hour reception and free on-site parking. Pets are welcome too.
The atmosphere leans cosy and pub-like, with staff generally praised for being attentive and friendly. Beyond the common itself, the area is well set up for walkers and cyclists, with further pubs, bars and restaurants nearby for those who fancy a change of scene, and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within easy reach for longer days out.

What guests say
We had a wonderful summer wedding at The Old Lodge. We had previously eaten in the restaurant and loved its charm and cosy atmosphere and after viewing it as a potential wedding venue, knew it was the perfect place for us to get married. The venue coordinator (Jess) was amazingly responsive, answered all our questions and was extremely accommodating to our needs. The food was delicious, we had so much space (despite not having exclusive use of the venue), the space looked absolutely stunning and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and attentive. We were lucky to have beautiful sunshine so married outside which was perfect, the garden is delightful and so cared for. We had breakfast the next morning which was fantastic and the staff had gone above and beyond, decorating the table with our wedding flowers from the day before which was so thoughtful and made us feel incredibly special. Highly recommend The Old Lodge as a place to get married - it will be incredibly special. 5 stars

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and at home. The hotel and pub offer an excellent experience in every way, with friendly staff, a warm atmosphere, and plenty of outdoor seating to relax and enjoy. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and family-friendly, with extra beds available for children when needed. The food was excellent, with a good selection of options for both vegetarians and vegans. Breakfast was equally enjoyable, offering a delicious start to the day. Whether you're looking for a place to stay, enjoy a meal, or simply stop by for a drink, this is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

Recently had my wedding reception here. Communication & helpfulness were great. I was able to dress the tables to my liking with assistance from the staff on the morning😊 The wedding Breakfast menu is varied and the food very nicely presented and piping hot. Welcome 🍸 served under the pagoda and my chosen music playing in the background. It was perfect 👌🏻. Jess and all the staff were brilliant. Would highly recommend

Staff are friendly, efficient and very welcoming. Excellent menu and good wine list, food is delicious, freshly prepared and very tasty, not the usual offering of pies and pizza that so many places promote. We were staying for 3 days with friends so practically tasted everything on offer. Rooms a bit tired and need a bit of a refurb but adequate. My only negative was the amount of dog owners who considered it acceptable for their dogs to be on the furniture (including coffee tables).
