🏡 Self-Catering Cottage

Cefn Gorwydd Cottages - Ty Gwyn

Ty Gwyn comes fully equipped for a self-catering stay. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, so you can cook properly rather than make do. Upstairs are three bedrooms—a double, a twin and a single—all with beamed ceilings, plus a shower room. Downstairs, the living and dining room has an electric fire and quarry tiles; the modern kitchen sits beyond an archway. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and heating are all included.

The cottage sits on 30 acres near Gowerton, roughly half a mile from the village and train station. You have use of a games room with table tennis and pool, a large garden with seating, and parking for one car. The Gower Peninsula spreads around you—rolling inland country, miles of coastline with sandy beaches and dunes, the cliff-top path, and villages like Mumbles with its lighthouse and promenade. Low tide at Penclawdd, three miles away, brings out horse-drawn carts harvesting cockles from the mudflats. No smoking in the property.

My wife, 2 young children and I, had never been to this area before. We'd heard it was beautiful and wanted to ensure we booked a nice cottage for the stay, and boy we struck gold. The location was on a farm, with some lovely animals nearby, and had the quietness of being rural, but also there were shops within walking distance. The cottage was situated perfectly to visit before North and South coasts. We mainly done South as were advised better for children. The cottage itself was lovely. Had plenty of character, all the facilities you'd expect (and more). Plenty of space for the 4 of us too. Reliable WiFi (although we don't let WiFi determine our choices of where to holiday). Car parking is private and right outside the cottage. Games room round the side too with table tennis and a pool table. The biggest stand out for us was the host - David. He lives in the house just down the way, and has ample knowledge of the area and makes you feel at home straight away. He grew up nearby so there's little he doesn't know. He was super responsive the 1 occasion where we needed him to move a vehicle for us, which gave us comfort he was nearby too. Honestly cannot thank David enough. Overall this HAS to get 5 stars from us.

The cottage we stayed in was perfect for what we needed. It is clean and comfortable and the host was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for trips out on the Gower with no where being more than half an hours drive, even Rosilli Beach at the far end. The only problem the cottage has is that we don't own it!

Lovely cottage, friendly owner, lovely welcome bits. Great location to explore the Gower. Within easy reach of Cardiff and Swansea. Short walk to train station for easy access.
