Cefn Gorwydd Cottages - Ty Llaethdy

The Gower Peninsula spreads out around this cottage—rolling farmland, unspoilt beaches backed by dunes, and a coastal path that climbs to cliff-top views. Ty Llaethdy sits in a small row of three cottages on 30 acres, each with its own raised terrace. A cycle track connects to the Mumbles, where you'll find the lighthouse and a working lifeboat station. Inland, moorland where Gower ponies and sheep graze opens up for walking, and at Penclawdd three miles away, low-tide cockle fishing still happens by horse-drawn cart.

The cottage itself has a beamed living and dining room with exposed stone, a well-fitted kitchen for cooking, and upstairs a galleried double bedroom with wooden floors and an en-suite bathroom. Bed linen, towels and wifi are included; the kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge. Electric heating keeps it warm through winter. You have private parking for one car and access to a shared games room with table tennis and pool table. A large garden with sitting areas surrounds the property.

The cottage suits couples looking for a quiet base whatever the season. It is not suitable for children under 18. No smoking inside.

My wife, 2 young children and I, had never been to this area before. We'd heard it was beautiful and wanted to ensure we booked a nice cottage for the stay, and boy we struck gold. The location was on a farm, with some lovely animals nearby, and had the quietness of being rural, but also there were shops within walking distance. The cottage was situated perfectly to visit before North and South coasts. We mainly done South as were advised better for children. The cottage itself was lovely. Had plenty of character, all the facilities you'd expect (and more). Plenty of space for the 4 of us too. Reliable WiFi (although we don't let WiFi determine our choices of where to holiday). Car parking is private and right outside the cottage. Games room round the side too with table tennis and a pool table. The biggest stand out for us was the host - David. He lives in the house just down the way, and has ample knowledge of the area and makes you feel at home straight away. He grew up nearby so there's little he doesn't know. He was super responsive the 1 occasion where we needed him to move a vehicle for us, which gave us comfort he was nearby too. Honestly cannot thank David enough. Overall this HAS to get 5 stars from us.

The cottage we stayed in was perfect for what we needed. It is clean and comfortable and the host was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for trips out on the Gower with no where being more than half an hours drive, even Rosilli Beach at the far end. The only problem the cottage has is that we don't own it!
