Tir Cethin Farm - Y Beudy

Photo: Bernhard Hofmann

Tir Cethin Farm - Y Beudy is a converted stone barn sleeping seven across three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a shared garden with a private hot tub. Two of the bedrooms have zip-and-link super king beds that split into singles; the third has a bunk and a single bed, making it well-suited to families with children or small groups sharing. The ground floor holds the main living quarters: an open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge space with a woodburner, television, and bifold doors that open directly onto the garden. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, and fridge freezer. Essentials including electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered; the woodburner's initial fuel is included too.

The property sits near Three Crosses village on the edge of Gower Peninsula, backing onto open countryside with access to beaches and coastal walks nearby. Outside, there's a patio and garden furniture for sitting out, a shared children's play area within the grounds, and parking for three cars. A travel cot and highchair are available for families with infants. The barn is a non-smoking property. This combination of flexible sleeping arrangements, fully equipped kitchen, and direct garden access makes it a straightforward base for groups planning to spend time cooking together and exploring the Peninsula.

A wonderfully quiet place just a few miles outside Swansea. It's hard to believe you're that close to Swansea, Mumbles, and so many other great places to visit on Gower because you feel as if you're miles from any town. The barn conversion is very well done, with beautiful Oak frame construction, high end design in the bathrooms and kitchen. Plenty of space for a large family or two couples with up to three kids between them. More than enough leather sofas to relax on after your dinner (or before) and enjoy the glow of the very efficient and modern fireplace or watch TV or DVDs. The beds are nice and firm (like new) without being hard, and the sheets are wonderfully smooth and soft. I particularly adore the snazzy pillow and foot throw material design on the beds that is carried up to the blinds in the two main bedrooms because it reminds me of boiled sweets. You're sure to get a really good night's rest in the darkness and quiet of the countryside. I good size porch area means walking boots, jackets, and other outdoor gear can stay out of your living area. It's all well thought out and designed. All the necessary conveniences are available from iron and ironing board to dishwasher and washing machine. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners on our last visit (our second time). I have no doubt we'll be back again and look forward to it already, having only just returned home.
