Dove House

Hollingworth sits on the fringe of the Peak District National Park, close enough to Glossop (3 miles) for market-town amenities, yet surrounded by countryside. Dove House is a single-storey cottage with direct access to private woodland behind it—useful if you're bringing a dog. The village itself has a bakery and a couple of pubs within walking distance, and Manchester is half an hour away by car or train.

Inside, you get a bedroom with a double bed (4ft 6in), a bathroom with shower cubicle, and an open-plan living room and kitchen on the ground floor. The kitchen has an electric oven, microwave and fridge for self-catering. A wood-burning stove and electric radiators keep the place warm; wood is provided. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and electricity are included. There's parking for two cars on site, and a bike store. One dog can stay free of charge.

The property works well for a couple wanting access to walking routes around Edale, Castleton and Kinder Scout, or for a weekend escape from the city. It's one level throughout and non-smoking.
