About Premier Inn Thirsk

This Premier Inn sits at Sowerby Gateway on the southern edge of Thirsk, close to the retail park and main road links rather than in the historic centre. It suits travellers who want an easy, predictable stay with straightforward parking, whether passing through on the A19 corridor or basing themselves in Thirsk for a few nights.

Rooms follow the chain's standard format, with air conditioning, blackout curtains and en-suite bathrooms, alongside an on-site restaurant for breakfast and evening meals. It is a functional rather than characterful choice, but a reliable one for families or anyone wanting to keep costs down.

Thirsk's Market Place and its attractions are a short drive or a walkable distance away for more energetic guests, and the hotel's edge-of-town position makes it an easy base for day trips to Sutton Bank, the Moors and the Dales.

Stop over on the way south from Northumberland. Large car park, air conditioning in the Restaurant and Room, essential for the hot July weather. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were really friendly and helpful. It was a busy weekend and more staff were needed in the Restaurant, especially on Saturday morning as there only one member of staff who was having to clear and clean all the tables needed for breakfast for guests and didn't have the time to do everything. Premier Inn need to employ more staff at busy times.

We have stayed here several times before as part of a return trip to see family who live near Bridlington. Previous stays have always been enjoyable but this one was spoiled by our breakfast table being cleared before we had finished. We had just returned to the buffet table to collect the second part of our continental breakfast and the same member of staff who had welcomed us and taken our payments decided to clear the table. A trivial thing for most people but for me, this shows lack of attention and can make guests feel unimportant and unwelcome. Both breakfast options are overpriced, as is the Table Table menu which is why we have not eaten there simply because it is too expensive for what it is. We stayed in a Premier Plus room which was good but not as pleasant as the renovated standard rooms in the same hotel.

Always a great place to stay. Very very friendly local staff, warm welcome, lovely rooms and a great breakfast. What more could you ask?

We have visited this hotel twice now, we have had a little problem twice now. First time we had a circus next door but chose not to complain due to the fact we thought maybe the child had autism. The second time i went down for a smoke at 4am, i was in an area 4m away from door as the smoking area was flooded with a broken drainpipe and was reminded to move by the night porter. Other than that a great hotel.
