Devon Palms - Ashbury Tor

Photo: Devon Palms Holiday Cottages & Apartments

Devon Palms - Ashbury Tor is a ground-floor apartment on the coastal road between Torquay and Maidencombe. The building sits within the owner's grounds, which spread across an acre with shared seating areas and a children's play area; your own space includes a patio with garden furniture and private parking for two cars. One small dog is welcome here.

Inside, everything is on one level. The open-plan living area contains a sofa bed (double), freeview television and dining space. The separate bedroom has a double bed (4ft 6in), and there's a shower cubicle and toilet. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and freezer. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; a welcome pack arrives when you do. A travel cot and highchair can be requested in advance. No smoking inside.

Maidencombe Beach lies directly downhill, a sheltered spot with a café. The coastal footpath from here connects a string of beaches eastward towards Torquay, with cliff-top views across Torbay. Torquay town centre is four miles away, home to shops, restaurants and the harbour; Torre Abbey Sands is the nearest town beach. Check-in is after 15:00, departure before 10:00.

We recently stayed at Devon Palms in Maidencombe as a family of four, and it was a fantastic experience. The property, situated between Teignmouth and Torquay, offers a peaceful and scenic setting that's perfect for a family getaway. Our accommodation was clean, cozy, and well-equipped, making our stay comfortable and stress-free. The small children's play area was a great addition, giving our kids a fun space to play while we relaxed. The location is ideal, with easy access to both Teignmouth and Torquay, and beautiful coastal walks just a short drive away. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed for a great stay. Overall, Devon Palms is a wonderful choice for families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable break. We had a memorable time and would highly recommend it to other families!

We just recently had a long weekend break, the apartment we stayed was clean and newly painted with all facilities in the apartment where you can eat in or out,the owners I never seen it done that the hospitality they could not do enough, Location was amazing views and central where you can go either way to Torquay across the boat to Brixham where we ate and as a ex chef the best fish restaurant, Teignmouth was opposite direction, location of buses 20 mins max 30. If you go Brixham cross by the boat amazing view of the harbour and only £3 pounds return. Thank you ever so much especially Helen who was amazing to meet. We will be back ! THESE ARE NEW OWNERS And the place is amazing especially Top Apartment where we stayed

Apple Tree was a lovely apartment which felt surprisingly private and secluded on the farthest corner of this site. The dual aspect living room with sliding doors and sunset views was lovely to sit in and had a private outside space too. Our boys, aged 3 & 5, could play safely with other children in the communal fenced play area when we were outside without risk of straying into the car park. We spent a lot of time from our week hanging out in the gardens and apartment since our young children had little stamina for long days out at the extensive local attractions. The kids loved sleeping in bunk beds, and the layout worked well for us, with a perfectly adequate kitchen for us to self cater in the evenings and reliable free wifi. We were greeted on arrival by David, and he was very welcoming and readily offered local knowledge and advice for our trip. We would certainly stay here again.
