About Rocombe Valley Retreat
Rocombe Valley Retreat lives up to its name – a proper hideaway in a peaceful Devon valley near Newton Abbot, where glamping units nestle beside a stream and three fishing lakes. The location strikes that ideal balance: you're tucked into countryside rich with wildlife yet only a ten-minute drive from Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Torbay, with Devon beaches just a couple of miles off. A pub serving food and ales is a fifteen-minute walk away, with four more pubs and restaurants within five minutes by car.
Each unit comes fully kitted out with cooking equipment, cosy double beds (all bedding supplied), and woodburning stoves fuelled by wood coppiced from the farm itself. Hot showers and flushing loos are close by in the farm amenities blocks. Coarse fishing is available on those adjacent lakes, and there's ample parking on site. The retreat welcomes families, motorcyclists, rallies and student groups, though dogs aren't permitted.

We absolutely loved our stay here! We stayed in the shepherds hut, there are trees all around so it is pretty private from the communal kitchen and fishing pond. Elliot was lovely and very happy to help. It was a £75 charge to use the wood fire hot tub for the whole of our stay, it was lush we would definitely recommend it. It takes a lot of wood to get this initially heated up but plenty is provided for this. The location is out of the way and calm but still close enough to towns for days out. But we loved it here so much the only time we left was a walk to the village shop! There is also a village pub, we didn’t go but it looked nice. There is plenty of kitchen stuff provided but i would say a lot of the cutlery & plates etc weren’t cleaned properly. We brought some stuff of our own anyway but anything we did need to use we just cleaned it before and after. Overall we would recommend and would love to visit again in the future!

My partner and I stayed back in march, and we loved every minute. The service was fantastic! Such a beautiful location. We stayed in the shepherds hut and loved every minute. Was slightly cold but I’m not surprised due to us staying in march time. Plenty of logs to fuel the fire and and extra blanket given. Lovely accommodation and amazing host. We shall most definitely be booking in again. Relaxing and peaceful. Thank you again. Look forward to booking again.

We had a wonderful experience! My friends and I felt incredibly welcomed and had plenty of time to relax. The place is clean, safe, and beautiful, with a lovely atmosphere. The surrounding area is perfect for walking and swimming, and there are plenty of nearby amenities. Highly recommended!

If you want to stay somewhere quiet, beautiful, full of wildlife and sheep, with a pleasant host, (but without luxurious washing facilities) then this is for you. We stayed in a yurt in early September for 5 nights. It was very clean and cosy with an extremely comfortable double bed, plus seats inside and out, a wood burner and fire pit, plus crockery and cutlery. The sheep were fantastic neighbours as were the buzzards, toads, kingfishers and tawny owls that we heard / saw every day. There is a communal area which was more than perfectly adequate despite another review. Several fridges, freezers, a cooker and washing up stuff. The toilets and shower are small but clean with hot water which is all we needed (depends what you are going there for!) Peter was extremely accommodating, very kind and we had a wonderful stay. Would highly recommend, good value if you want an outdoor rustic experience without having to put up your tent and bring all your camping stuff, which is what we normally do. P.s. to be clear there's no electricity or wifi, which is great if you want to switch off. It's really off the beaten track with amazing coastal walks, little beach coves and interesting ww2 history nearby.
