About The Caledonian Torbay Hotel
Torquay's seafront and town centre attractions are within easy reach of The Caledonian Torbay Hotel on Torbay Road, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment on the doorstep. Golf, fishing, cycling, walking routes and watersports are all close by too, making it a workable base whether you want to stay active or simply wander down to the harbour.
Rooms are spacious and include family options, all with en-suite bathrooms, and there's a lift for easier access around the building. Breakfast is included, and the restaurant, bar and snack bar offer plenty of choice through the day, with packed lunches and kids' meals available and drinks served to the room. The garden gives a quiet spot to sit outside, with views over the grounds.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the central location is a regular high point, though some parts of the hotel show their age and could do with updating. Pets are welcome, and free WiFi is available throughout. Parking is chargeable and found nearby rather than on site, so it's worth arranging this ahead of arrival.
What guests say
Room 318 , really very good. Spacious and clean. We could see that it's in the middle of being repainted but that was no problem.Great locality for the Princess theatre. Staff friendly.Close to all amenities and parking nearby undercover at a reduced day rate for patrons. Lift went out of action which made it difficult with any disabilities, my husband struggled but not their fault. Overall a really nice stay.

For the price we paid we found this hotel excellent. We had a seaview room on the 1st floor which was a good size. Clean and tidy with a comfy bed, tea and coffee, hairdryer and fan. The bathroom could probably do with a makeover but was clean with plenty of hot water. Shower over bath which could be an issue for some people. Restaurant staff very good. Food nice at both breakfast and dinner with choice of starter, main course and dessert. When I struggled to find something I liked one night they gave me a larger portion of a starter as a main course which was appreciated. Sometimes the food, for me, wasn't hot enough so maybe a microwave should be considered. I would come back to this hotel and recommend.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. We had a corner room on the third floor with a lovely view of the beach and harbour. Discounted parking was nearby and the value for money was great. Everything we needed was close by including the beach harbour and shops. We highly recommend this place for great value for money. The concierge recommended a visit to Totnes”…..great recommendation we thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully old town with artisanal shops…well worth a visit…

In a beautiful central location with views of the gardens and marina. Outside a bus stop getting around to other places was a doddle. I highly recommend visiting Dartmouth. Rooms clean. Food was good with a lot of choices of starter, main and dessert to choose from. Staff extremely friendly and made you feel welcome. A fantastic holiday from start to finish. Would definitely return
