About The Headland Hotel & Spa

Torquay's coastline is the main draw here, and The Headland Hotel & Spa makes the most of it from a position on Daddyhole Road with views out over the sea. It's a spot suited to a slower pace, with the English Riviera's beaches, walking routes and watersports all within easy reach, and golf and fishing nearby for those who want to venture out.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks and room service, and family and accessible options are available, though some of the rooms show their age rather than feeling freshly updated. The spa is a highlight, with hydrotherapy pools and a sauna alongside a gym, and there's a restaurant and bar on site serving breakfast, dinner and packed lunches for days out. A garden and outdoor seating area make the most of the setting.

Practical extras include free on-site parking, free WiFi, lift access and meeting rooms, useful for both leisure stays and small gatherings. Beyond the hotel, Torquay's pubs, restaurants and cycling and walking areas are all close by, making it easy to fill the rest of the day.

We had our wedding at The Headland Hotel on the 4th of July, and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The staff were incredible, nothing was ever too much trouble. Everyone was polite, professional and genuinely friendly, which made us and our guests feel so welcome throughout the whole weekend. The day itself ran seamlessly, with no issues at all, and the views from the hotel are simply stunning. We would especially like to thank Owen and Katie for everything they did to make sure we had the best time. Their attention to detail and support made such a difference, and even having breakfast delivered to our room each morning was such a lovely touch. The pricing felt very reasonable for the level of service, location and beautiful setting. The hotel also has live music on the terrace at weekends, as well as offers on stays and food during the week. Whether you are planning a wedding, staying away or are local to the area, we would highly recommend visiting for a drink in the sunshine. Thank you again to everyone at The Headland Hotel for helping to make our wedding so special.

We have just enjoyed 2 days in this lovely hotel. Although a little old fashioned in style the level of comfort and totally delightful staff made our break superb. The views are to die for and parking was very easy. The dinner was delicious, adventurous and beautifully presented. Breakfast was excellent and the choice was great. We were very lucky to be served by Naomi on both evenings and one breakfast and she was lovely, a breath of fresh air. Thank you Naomi for making us laugh and adding to our enjoyment of the hotel. Although the hotel was full of coach party guests, service was smooth and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be back.

Such a wonderful hotel in a wonderful location. We received a complimentary room upgrade, and the view immediately upon entering was a sight to behold. I don’t think that my partner and I were the target audience for this hotel (oops), but nonetheless the staff were wonderful and truly went above and beyond to make our experience there wonderful- especially the waiting staff. They were happy to provide drink recommendations and extra dinner rolls; one lady in particular, whose name we unfortunately did not get, was so lovely and remembered us from our first night through to the end of our stay. We stayed four nights with breakfast and dinner included, and the food was nothing short of excellent. I had the best dinner of my entire life in the Romanoff restaurant on our final evening, and the chefs were kind enough to provide the recipe. The pumpkin and sage ravioli is just the best thing ever. The hotel also operates a green policy, where you can choose to not have your room serviced and they offer 10% off drinks in return, which we thought was a nice touch. The spa facilities are immaculate, and I think £10pp per use is a great deal for what you get. I would so love to stay here again.

My husband and myself have been visiting the Headland (previously Overmead) for over 20 years, each year it seems to get better and better. All the staff from housekeeping to management go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The hotel is a little outdated in parts, but always clean and comfortable. The restaurant staff are always quick and polite to serve you, and have a chat as are all the bar staff, service with a smile goes a long way. They do have coach and wedding parties but this never makes you feel out of place can sometimes be entertaining! Our next visit will be Christmas, which is really one long party ee can highly recommend.
