Copperfield

Photo: Copperfield

Copperfield is a refurbished Victorian merchant's house overlooking the River Torridge towards Bideford's waterfront. Spread across three floors with seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, it accommodates up to 14 guests and can be booked as an entire property. The layout provides both communal spaces for the group to gather and quieter corners to retreat to.

The ground floor centres on a living room and a kitchen-diner equipped for serious cooking, with a utility room housing two washing machines and two tumble dryers—practical for a large party. There's also a cinema room with projector, surround sound and gaming consoles. Upstairs, bedrooms range from king-size doubles to flexible configurations with single beds and pull-outs; most have ensuite bathrooms, and several of the larger ones feature roll-top or Jacuzzi baths. The gardens include a heated swimming pool (May to September), a hot tub, fire pit and patio area. Parking covers six vehicles across private and off-road spaces. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all covered. One dog is welcome. The property is two minutes' walk from the Tarka Trail if you want to cycle or walk beyond the garden.

We have rented allot of houses in Devon and this one is ranked no 1 looking at the house itself and the stunning view. Personally I love the Torbay area more but that's a personal choice. The house is fully equipped, nice rooms and some stunning bathrooms. For the youngster the game/TV room is a nice bonus with multiple consoles, a big 85 inch TV and a beamer. Nobody would regret and forget this house.

Had a lovely time at Copperfield House. There was plenty of space for our big family. We all enjoyed what the house had to offer, especially the wonderful views of the estuary, which looked beautiful, all lit up at night. The hot tub was another plus, which was nice to relax in and take in the views. The swimming pool was great for the kids too. The house was well equipped and the beds was very comfortable. Our only complaint is that the garden was a little untidy, but we had this taken care of, once we raised this issue. Thank You for a great stay!

This is an amazing house! We went as a family group of eleven and we were easily accommodated! The ground floor consists of a really spacious and airy open plan sitting room , dining room and we'll equipped kitchen. Off the huge entrance hall is a cosy tv room with games consoles,DVDs and board games for the less tech minded, also a projector and big screen for the full cinema effect. Up on the further two floors there are seven pristine bedrooms, three of which are on suite and a shower room on the second floor and a gorgeous family bathroom on the top floor . The outside facilities included a small above ground pool , double hammock, ample seating , hot tub and fire pit. The view over the estuary was wonderful , morning, noon and night! I would highly recommend this location for a group family holiday everything has been thought of for a home from home.
