Smuggler's Retreat opens into an open-plan ground floor where the living space, dining area and kitchen flow together, with a step down to the sitting room. A wood-effect electric stove provides warmth; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with an electric cooker, dishwasher and washer-dryer. Upstairs, three bedrooms sleep six: one with a double bed and ensuite shower, another pair of single beds with ensuite, and a third pair of singles with access to the ground-floor bathroom that has a bath and shower over. Towels, bed linen and Wi-Fi are provided, as is oil central heating and electricity.
The property stands on a working farm in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with a private hot tub on the decked patio where you can sit and watch the water. A lawned garden has garden furniture and a barbecue. Narrow lanes from the door lead to secluded beaches; Berry Beach is a short walk. The rugged Hartland coastline and surrounding farmland suit walkers and bird watchers well. One dog is welcome, kept on a lead. There is ample parking and a shared external games room with a pool table, table tennis and skittle alley.

We had a wonderful stay at Atlantic House, perfectly set in the middle of the countryside with stunning views of both the countryside and the sea. The peaceful surroundings made it a relaxing getaway, and there were plenty of local walks to enjoy along the small country lanes. There are so many great places to visit nearby – from the beautiful Hartland viewing point and charming village of Clovelly, to Westward Ho! beach, Hartland Quay with its breathtaking views and fantastic pub, and family-friendly attractions like The Milky Way Adventure Park and The Big Sheep. We also loved exploring unique spots like the Gnome Reserve, Affinity Devon shopping outlet, Summerleaze beach, Merry Harriers Garden Centre, and even a local honey seller close by. The house itself was spotless, tidy, and very well-equipped. The large, modern farmhouse had everything we needed, from plenty of utensils and storage space to clean bathrooms and comfy beds with soft, fresh towels. The décor was stylish yet homely, with pretty lighting, a cosy fireplace, and TVs with standard Freeview channels. The spacious open-plan kitchen and living area was perfect for family time, and all the essentials (like a hoover, etc.) were thoughtfully provided. We especially enjoyed being able to walk around the farm, and even went blackberry picking on Blegberry Farm – a lovely experience! The games room has a pool table, table tennis and other activities too. A hot tub is also in the garden, lovely and warm. Overall, Atlantic House is a beautiful, modern yet welcoming farmhouse in a perfect countryside setting. It had everything we could possibly need for a comfortable and memorable stay. We would definitely recommend it and look forward to returning.

We stayed as a family of five and one dog and had a truly great week's holiday. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean and comfortable in every area with the bedrooms being large and enjoying see views. The farm is in a fairly remote location, so going anywhere in a car involves driving on some narrow country lanes but there isn't a great deal of traffic on them. Sitting in the hot tub enjoying a sea view is a great way to relax. The memories we made this week will stay with us all for a very long time, Smuggler's Retreat gets top marks from us.

Wonderful accommodation, very secluded great for a complete get away from the rat race. Beautiful walks with very steep mountainous climbs. Hot tub is a brilliant way to relax after a long walk.
