About Quincecote

Dashing off to Devon's Hartland Peninsula for wild coastal walks and peaceful countryside? The lush landscapes are in full view at Quincecote. In a National Landscape and just 45 minutes' walk from a stretch of the South West Coast Path known for its tough climbs and rewarding views – rocky cliffs, wild coves and all that good stuff – this bespoke shepherd's hut is wonderfully situated.

The hut doesn't hold back on mod cons. There's a kitchen with fridge, toaster, gas hob and sink for rustling up breakfast or dinner, plus Bluetooth radio speakers, a cosy woodburning stove with wood supplied, and an outdoor firepit. The double bed folds away to create extra floor space, and there's an integrated bathroom with a large shower. Solar panels help offset your carbon footprint, and sea views remind you the coast is close.

When you're not tracking down cliffs and coves, wander through fields and woods to Hartland village for a coffee or pub grub – just 10 minutes' walk. Hartland Abbey, with its parklands full of peacocks and donkeys, is 35 minutes away on foot.

River Side

Amazing few days spent in this idyllic, peaceful location. The Shepherds hut is beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed. As the hut is in its own little paddock we able to sit outside until very late without being disturbed and watch the stars. Anna went out of her way to accommodate our every needs.

We stayed here for our wedding night and it was just perfect for us. Beautifully decorated and very well kitted out, surprisingly spacious with a really good sized bathroom. It has a lovely decking area at the front with wonderful views, the perfect spot for breakfast. We had a continental breakfast and it was extremely generous with almond croissants, smoked salmon, eggs, fresh bread as well as cereals and fresh strawberries! We had told the owner that it was our wedding night and we had a lovely card from them as well. 10/10

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the shepherd's hut and were pleasantly surprised at how well equipped it was. It was cosy and quiet with a lovely breakfast provided for us. Although the photos didn't show the bathroom, it was plenty big enough and finished to a high standard. We enjoyed meeting all the animals and were pleased that it was located within walking distance to the village where there were a few pubs. The host was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed, including enough wood for the fire pit and extra bits like marshmallows and hot chocolate were provided. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cosy, quirky stay in the country with a sea view!
