Thornbury Holiday Park - Willow

Photo: Thornbury Holiday Park

Thornbury Holiday Park occupies 8½ acres of meadows and woodland on the edge of Holsworthy, with five detached lodges dotted across the grounds near fishing lakes. Willow is a ground-floor property sleeping four, built for straightforward, unfussy holidays: a living and dining room with French doors onto a decked area; a kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and washing machine; two bedrooms (one kingsize with ensuite shower, one with two singles); and a family bathroom. One dog stays free. Electricity, bed linen and WiFi are included, and there is parking for two cars on site. The lodge is no-smoking.

The park's main draw is access to its own fishing lakes, available free to guests with a licence. Nature trails wind through the grounds, and the shared children's play area is useful for families. Holsworthy itself is four miles away. The location offers reasonable reach to the Tamar Lakes (which have watersports), coastal walks and beaches to the north and west, and various family attractions across north Devon and Cornwall. Note that there are unfenced lakes within the grounds, 20 yards from the property.

Our family of 14 stayed at Thornbury over the weekend and we had a great time. We stayed across the Lodge, Bungalow and Caravan. All were clean and had everything we needed. We played games on the green outside and enjoyed walks around the lakes. Seeing the animals around the farm was a lovely bonus and the children loved the goats. There is no bar currently but this didn't impact our stay. The small park was lovely for the younger children and the older ones enjoyed the slide as well. The owners were great and very friendly.

Lovely place, we stayed for a wk in Aug. We stayed in Cedar which needs updating, decor is tired in comparison to the one our other family members stayed in. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, lovely walks around the ponds and meadows with a large enclosed field to let dogs off. We had a few encounters with the feathered neighbours, with one particular Cockeral ruling the roost! 😆 lots of character, made for an effective baby gate. The place would benefit from the bar being open during busier wks. Overall very enjoyable wk and would recommend 👌

This place is a great little gem, especially if you have kids. We stayed in a lodge, which was spacious, clean and had everything you would need. There is a great open area, fishing lake and a play park. We also went on a little stroll around the area, which was beautiful. The children we so happy to see chickens, rabbits and the goats, and we took a stroll to see them every day :) there is also a play park and bar. Very accessible and disability friendly which is another huge plus! The only negative is that we didn’t stay longer! But we will 100% be back again in the very near future :) Highly recommend, 10/10 🤩

Fantastic family campsite. Everything you need for a great get away. Facilities are well looked after and the fishing lake is full of fish (impossible not to catch). Lovely waking up to chickens and rabbits. Owners are really friendly too. Such a peaceful place and will be back for sure.
