Great museum very friendly staff and all areas dog friendly. The guided tour is well worth it to see the inside of the beam engine building, engine shed and power house. Lots to see while having a walk round the site.

I went with my Son and Dad on the eve of my Dad's 80th birthday. When my Dad was 15 he did his engineering apprenticeship here. He was brought-up on the south side of Edinburgh. Each morning he got on a company bus and made the trip to work here. Lots of memories came flooding back for my Dad. This museum made a Grandad, a Dad and a Grandson very happy. The team who Keep this museum going should be applauded.

Worth the visit to see how the place used to run and the sense of past times. Has guided runs and a few places you can get into to view more than just the outside. The cafe has more items to view and a nice wee bit for the kids to play and do arts/ crafts. Staff are very pleasant and friendly, cafe sells light refreshments at very reasonable prices Has two disabled parking spaces near the centre.

Visited Prestongrange museum as we'd seen it on google maps when looking ay the area where we were staying for the week. Absolutely fantastic site, lots of interesting things to look at and the volunteers working there were very helpful, friendly and genuinely cared about what they were doing. The site is free to visit, however they do offer guided tours for a small fee which is worth it to be able to go inside the engine shed and beam engine. It's a large site but you can make the visit last as long or as short as you like as there is lots of interesting things to look at. Some people may see it as not having a lot there but it is essentially an old industrial site that is open to the public to have a look around and it's worth a visit, there are currently a number of projects in progress that will further improve the site and I imagine in a few years there will be even more things to see.
