went 15+ years ago it was amazing we walked inside Just perfect. Went 2 years ago and it was shut down for rennos like alot if castles we paid the historic castle fee but could not enter 6 of 7 we went to. This time we didn't buy the historic tickets thankfully as 2yrs later drive over 2hrs on the day as I wanted to see it on line said they were open - got there 3hrs before close and it was shut emailed them told staff left early sorry .. Really disappointed I would suggest calling as internet said it was open we wasted fuel and time

Unfortunately shut due to loose stonework. Rather disappointing as I'd travelled from Birkenhead to see my old ancestral castle. Got photos so wasn't all bad.

Unfortunately, not yet open. Great to see that they plan on completing this project and maintaining the History. There is a path to town alongside the road and a nature path across the street where you can stroll alongside the river.

Very small for £5. But with English heritage you get 50% off. Had fun exploring. You can climb right to the top for a good view which is nice. Lady on the desk was very nice n helpful. Worth a quick drop in if you are passing.
