About Grovers Meadow

Tucked into 10 acres of wildflower meadow edged by ancient woodland, Grovers Meadow offers proper back-to-basics camping just off the A272 near Maresfield. The spacious, level pitches give you plenty of room for gazebos and awnings, while permanent firepits (logs available on-site) make for atmospheric evenings under often stunning sunsets. Recent upgrades mean you'll find hot outdoor showers and flushing toilets rather than just portables, plus an on-site coffee van, bar, and visiting pizza truck add welcome creature comforts to this peaceful pop-up spot.

Though it feels wonderfully remote, you're only half a mile from Maresfield's pub and village store, with a supermarket and coffee chain right across the road. Lovely woodland trails lead to the site's own natural mineral water source, and Lewes is a 20-minute drive for indie shops and cafés. Note that dogs aren't permitted, keeping things particularly tranquil for those seeking a simple escape.

Are you overwhelmed by the options of campings and can’t decide which one to go for? Ouse Meadow Campsite easily the best place. Beautiful nature, very spacious compared to other campsites. Staff members are very nice, there is a coffee van with amazing coffees and pastry’s in the morning and independent beers in the evening. I loved my hot shower under the trees in the evening, and our sun loved running around the field with other kids. Oh, did I say that there is a pizza van on Saturday’s?

Bring cash! Signal is basically non-existant and it took many attempts to pay by card. Overall this is a clean and pretty site, and the outdoor showers were cool, although I can’t imagine what it’s like when it rains! Nice to have an adults-only section although I think it needs to be better labelled on-site as two families went there. The river looked grim so I didn’t go in there as I had hoped I could. Bring your own table tennis/ badminton stuff. And bring your own bin bags as no bins on site (except dog poo and ladies’ toilets). We didn’t go on a weekend so can’t comment on the food/drinks van. Neil is friendly and helpful and told us where we could walk, and gave us a flier for free entry to bluebell railway platform.

We’re just home after a second successful May bank holiday weekend camping at Ouse meadow. It’s a lovely spot with plenty of space, well maintained facilities (clean flushing toilets, hot outdoor showers, an on site coffee van/ bar and visiting pizza truck) in a great location close walking distance to Sheffield Park, the bluebell railway line and the everyday brew company for lovely pizzas (formerly 360) and other great pubs within a longer walk / short drive away. We came by chance last year when our long time regular site was full (the more famous one over the road), but the kids chose to come back to Ouse without any hesitation - a nice level of “busy” ness but still with plenty of space for games - badminton, cricket, communal rounders etc. Thanks Neil and team!
