The Room Next Door

The Room Next Door is a self-contained annexe on the edge of the Vale of Glamorgan, minutes from St Athan Golf Club and surrounded by rolling countryside. Barry and its beaches lie within easy reach, as does the heritage coast and the villages dotted across the vale. Cardiff is a short drive north when you want city restaurants, museums or a match at the Principality Stadium.

Everything is on one level: a kingsize bedroom with French doors onto the shared garden, a shower room, and an open-plan kitchen and living space with a sofa bed that sleeps one additional guest. The kitchen has an oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge, so you can cook properly or keep things simple. A smart TV is in the bedroom; there's no television in the living area. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are included, along with parking for one car and an enclosed back garden with patio and seating. One pet is welcome. No smoking indoors.

This works well for couples, or a small family with one child. Nearby are St Donat's Castle, Cowbridge's farmers' market and independent shops, and Llantwit Major beach for a proper seaside day.
