Photo: The Clock Tower, Sidmouth

Sidmouth's coastline and the rolling countryside inland sit within easy reach of The Clocktower, a characterful apartment tucked beneath a historic clocktower on the grounds of a country house. Three bedrooms—two doubles and a twin—make it suitable for families or two couples, with two bathrooms to match. The first-floor layout is open-plan living and dining, with a study tucked away for quieter moments, and a fully fitted kitchen that handles proper cooking. Patio doors open onto a balcony; the enclosed garden below has seating and furniture for outdoor time, and there is parking for two cars on site.

Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. One dog travels free. Access involves climbing 17 steps. The garden contains an unfenced pond, so worth noting if you have young children. Sidmouth itself offers the usual seaside amenities—beach, promenade, restaurants—while National Trust properties including Saltram and Buckland Abbey are within driving distance, along with walks onto Dartmoor to the north. No smoking inside the apartment.

What a Gem! On top of a cliff, overlooking the sea, beaches and part lovely kept gardens, it’s well worth a visit. Lovely coffee and teas, paired with some lovely cakes to try! They have a small menu for other bits which looked nice but we didn’t try, maybe next time

Nice cafe with stunning views. Cakes are delicious and the service is very good. It is dog friendly place. When we were there at least two clients came with their dogs. The cafe offers nice seating options outside, in the garden itself

Diners like this cafe's delicious food, including breakfast, cakes, and coffee, and appreciate the wide variety of veggie and vegan options. They also highlight the stunning views, friendly staff, and dog-friendly downstairs section.

Some reviews mention the service can be inattentive.
