About Tavistock Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Tucked in gorgeous countryside just five minutes from Tavistock town centre, this spacious Camping and Caravanning Club site makes an excellent Dartmoor base. Cyclists can pick up National Cycle Route 274 a mere 200 yards away, while walkers have miles of moorland on the doorstep and several National Trust properties within easy reach. Plymouth's attractions lie about 40 minutes' drive south, and a handy bus stop sits right outside for car-free exploring.

Guests consistently praise the spotless facilities—particularly the individual shower rooms, each with its own toilet and washbasin—and the genuinely helpful wardens who share useful local tips. The site caters well for families (play area, ball games permitted) and dogs (two large enclosed exercise areas), with a small shop and launderette on-site. Both members and non-members are welcome, though club members enjoy a worthwhile discount on the pitch rate.

A great welcome on arrival from staff, guided to option pitches, be aware that most pitches have a slight slope & you will need to cater for that. The site is adjacent to a main road, which can be noisy particularly at weekends but that did not detract from the general quality of the site. The toilet & shower facilities were excellent, with individual rooms with shower, toilet, & washbasin. These were kept very clean. Despite the weather being wet for the majority of our 10 days, it did not detract from us enjoying our stay. We'll done to the staff. Would recommend.

Come here often for the jumbo grass pitches with electric. Very quiet and great night time skies. Tony was great, let us use a chair when one broke. Also recommended a river to swim in during the heatwave. Bathrooms and showers are tidy. Can't fault it.

Friendly welcome. Gave all the usual needed info. Site/facilities were clean and tidy. Great as a base for exploring this side of Dartmoor. This site is not quiet though. Main road from Tavistock onto moor starts early (5:30 ish) and is busy all day with 60mph traffic until gone 11pm. Would definitely never stay here again due to this. Our pitch was amongst the seasonal pitches at the entrance to the site before the security barrier... we have a LWB Transporter and 7m van... glad I had a motor mover as access was tight.

Very convenient stop over for Plymouth ferries. But given the general location a longer stay would enable one to explore the surrounding landscape. And Tavistock is a fine town with much to be explored. It also benefits from the one ingredient that makes a place desirable...a Wetherspoons. Also a Morrisons for food and cheap petrol. The one a small downside is the approach road from Tavistock which at certain points is narrow. With a big unit one could have problems with any equally large oncoming vehicles. There are several passing places but they are few and far between. The staff are helpful and efficient. The facilities are excellent and spotless. Can recommend it.
