Bank Cottages - Ramblers Rest
Westmorland and Furness
Nenthead sits at 1,500 feet in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by heather moorland and farmland. The village itself has roots as an 18th-century mining settlement—the lead and silver mines have long closed, but hundreds of miles of accessible workings remain for those interested in industrial history. Alston, a proper market town 4 miles away, is known for local food producers and is also the base for England's highest narrow-gauge railway, the South Tynedale Railway.
Ramblers Rest is a barn conversion spread over three floors. Downstairs you'll find a bathroom and a sauna. The ground floor holds the kitchen and dining space, where a woodburner provides warmth alongside gas central heating, plus a bedroom with two single beds and a bunk. Upstairs, the living room has views over the village, and a second bedroom contains a double bed. The cottage sleeps six and comes with parking for two cars, a garden with furniture, and a private water supply from a spring. Essentials including bed linen, towels, electricity and wifi are provided; initial logs for the stove are included.
One dog is welcome. The property does not permit smoking. This is walking country in a quiet corner of Cumbria, suited to families and couples seeking a genuine break from busier areas.
