Broughton-in-Furness is a small Georgian market town with a working square, local shops and pubs within easy reach. Brock Cottage sits in one of the town's best-preserved courtyards, a cobbled enclave that dates back to the 1750s. The cottage itself spreads across three floors and sleeps four: two bedrooms (one double, one with zip-and-link singles), a bathroom, and a separate toilet. There's also a sofa bed in the upstairs sitting room if needed. Downstairs, an open-fire living room and dining space overlook the courtyard, with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—oven, dishwasher, microwave and all essentials provided.
Your own garden patio and barbecue open onto the rear, where you can catch the sun at different times of day and see beyond the neighbouring gardens towards Broughton Tower parkland. One dog can stay free. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included; coal for the open fire is provided too. The cottage suits families and groups wanting a proper base rather than a quick overnight stop, with on-road parking and bike storage available. Coniston, Ambleside and Windermere are a short drive away, walking and fell-running start from the doorstep, and the Duddon Valley and coast lie within a couple of miles. No smoking inside.

Ali was absolutely ace, responsive, kind, thoughtful, shared good ideas for the local area, handmade book inside with tips for the cottage and local area plus emails and texts. Beautiful cottage, very beautifully kept and decorated. All needs for our beautiful 5 month old daughter we're comfortably met, with advice ahead of booking. Ideal. Thank you Ali!

Brock Cottage is a superb characterful property inna superb location to explore the South and Western fells. It has everything you need to be comfortable with a plethora of local maps and guide books available to plan your days. Ali, the owner is lovely and very helpful and easily contactable to remedy any problems or to offer advice. The property doesn't have it's own parking, but we didn't have any problems finding spaces nearby in September. We thoroughly recommend this lovely dog friendly cottage and plan to return in the not to distant future.
