Coal Yeat Cottages -Yan Cottage
Westmorland and Furness

Ulverston sits on the southern edge of the Lake District, close enough to Windermere, Coniston and the central fells for day trips, yet far enough out that Yan Cottage feels genuinely remote. The surrounding countryside is open moorland and fell walking terrain; the town itself has independent shops, a market and the Laurel and Hardy museum if weather keeps you indoors.
The cottage is all on one level: a living room and kitchen-diner (with electric oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher) facing a double bedroom with its own bathroom, two further doubles, and a bunk room for children. A separate shower room serves the rest. Outside is a flagged veranda with garden furniture and parking for two cars on site. Essentials like bed linen, towels, electricity and Wi-Fi are included.
Shared facilities in a separate building include a games room with pool table and table tennis, plus a washing machine and tumble dryer. The cottage takes one dog; other pets require the owner's approval. No smoking inside.

We absolutely loved our stay at coal yeat cottages. The cottage itself was super clean, it felt like a home from home. All the basic kitchen supplies were available as well as some goodies on arrival. We loved walking the dogs in the fields around the cottage as well as all of the local walks. It was so relaxing and we can’t wait to return!

We have stayed here twice now. Both times the service has been excellent. Booking is easy and instructions are clear. Accommodation is very well maintained and has all the amenities you need plus some lovely extra touches. Rooms are really clean and comfortable. The location is remote enough to feel right in the middle of nature but with great options for sight seeing or outdoor activities near by. We love it and will be back again.

If I could give them 10 stars I would without hesitation! We’ve stayed at 40+ AirBnb’s and VRBO’s in our travels and Coal Yeats is one of our top 5. The accommodations are excellent! Clean, attractive, comfortable, well equipped and in a scenic location. The Internet is fast, and reliable. Add to it excellent sky TV, and it’s a complete package. Located outside of town in a quiet location, yet not far to drive should you want a supermarket or the amenities of a bigger city. Beyond that, Emma is an excellent host. When Covid interrupted our plans for 2020 & 2021 Emma was totally cooperative in moving our deposit forward to a new year or refunding it, which ever we preferred. She is the real deal. A great lady indeed. Hopefully 2022 we’ll be back!
