Holy Waters
Westmorland and Furness
Staveley is one of those Lake District villages that feels removed from the busier tourist routes, yet sits within easy reach of Windermere and Bowness. The village itself has everything you need within walking distance—shops, a pub, cafes—and beyond it stretches the Kentmere Valley, a natural draw for walkers and cyclists. Holy Waters is a converted church building here, one of four properties created from the original structure, positioned right beside the River Gowan with an enclosed garden running along the water.
The accommodation spreads across two floors. Downstairs is an open-plan living and dining area with a wood-burning stove, DVD player, and views onto the garden and river. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with electric oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—and a bathroom with bath and shower. An ensuite toilet is attached to the main bedroom. The property sleeps four. Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included, along with heating and electricity. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed.
The conversion has kept the building's original character: arched windows, exposed beams and stone walls give the rooms an unusual quality. A pub is within a mile, and the setting makes this a natural base for exploring the fells on foot or by bike. No smoking inside the property.
