Otter Tarn - Horse Spout works well for families wanting space to spread out, couples after a break with proper facilities, or groups of friends who need separate bathrooms. The lodge holds six across three bedrooms: two with super kingsize beds and one with twin singles, each with its own shower room. Ground floor living flows between a full kitchen, dining area and sitting room centred on a woodburner, with large windows onto the grounds. Essentials like wi-fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all covered.
The property sits within an estate of woodland and a fishing lake shared across the site. Your own patio and private hot tub overlook the trees at the rear, and there is parking for two cars. The kitchen comes properly equipped for self-catering, with an induction hob, dishwasher, American-style fridge and coffee machine, should you want to cook rather than venture out. South Lakes villages including Cartmel and Newby Bridge lie nearby for exploring. The setting is quiet and secluded, though you should know the water supply comes from a borehole and there are restrictions on certain types of group bookings.

There are very few Airbnbs you check out of feeling sad to leave, this is one of them. The house and surrounding area are so beautiful it’s hard to say goodbye. The property itself is pure luxury, tucked away in one of the most peaceful, picturesque parts of the Lake District. Kath was a brilliant host, proactive with communication and quick to reply to any questions. We loved every moment of our stay and will absolutely be back.

This is our second stay at Otter Tarn. We loved it so much we went back again. The location is lovely, so peaceful with just the sound of the birds and animals mainly. There are no main roads close by. The standard of the accommodation is truly excellent. Our Lodge was spotless when we arrived. The quality of the furnishings is top class. The hot tub was ready to climb into. We had a wonderful time. We really recommend Otter Tarn.

Had the most fantastic weekend in toad mire. Lodge has everything you could possible need and more as well as excellent views across the lake. So many local walks on the estate and beyond. Spent time in Cartmel with so many cafes, bars and restaurants with amazing food for snacks or quality meals. Lovely quaint shops including sticky toffee pudding shop. Thank you so much and we’ll be back!!

Our recent visit to Otter Tarn Luxury Lodges is one of many we’ve enjoyed over recent years, and it never disappoints. On this occasion we stayed in Horse Spout, having previously stayed in Toad Mire, and once again the accommodation was presented to the very highest standard. The lodge is beautifully equipped and has such a warm, homely feel. There is an incredible amount of space, particularly when there are only two of you 😀 making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The added luxury of the very private hot tub is a real highlight. The location is simply second to none. Tucked away in wonderfully secluded countryside, near to the lovely village of Cartmel and overlooking the peaceful tarn, it provides the perfect setting for a quiet escape. All of this is supported by the most amazing service from Kath and her family, who make every stay feel personal and welcoming. This certainly won’t be our last visit to Otter Tarn Luxury Lodges and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and special place to stay. A true 5 star experience
