Smithy House is an 18th-century cottage in Stainton, a village between Penrith and the Lake District. It sleeps 6 across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with one well-behaved dog allowed at no extra cost. The whole place is yours alone, and essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included.
Downstairs, the main bedroom has a kingsize bed and an in-room bath, plus a separate toilet. The living room has a wood burner and Smart TV; fuel is provided. The kitchen is genuinely well appointed—electric range, microwave, air fryer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and coffee machine mean you can cook properly or keep things simple. Upstairs, a four-poster kingsize has an ensuite shower, while the twin room overlooks the village. A second shower room sits on the first floor with a heated towel rail. There's an enclosed front garden with seating and space for two cars on site.
The location suits walkers and families wanting the Lake District without the bustle of the honeypots—local scenery and footpaths are readily accessible. Stainton C of E Primary School is nearby if you're planning around school holidays. No smoking inside.
