Torver Station Cottages - Station Master’s House

Torver is a quiet hamlet in the southern Lake District, close enough to Coniston Water for water-based activities yet far enough from crowds to feel genuinely remote. The Station Master's House occupies part of the old railway buildings here—a genuine period conversion that retains the character of its former life, including a raised terrace that follows the line of the original platform.
Inside, everything is on one level. Two double bedrooms (one with an additional single bed) sleep five people, with a separate wet room. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. A sitting room with a TV provides a quiet space when the weather turns. Outside, there's private parking for two cars, an enclosed lawned garden with a sitting-out area, and a BBQ. The garden contains a pond (fenced) and a 3ft drop (unfenced), and there are 4 steps leading into it. One dog stays free.
From here you can walk or cycle to the Coniston Fells—Coniston Old Man being the obvious target—or spend time on the water itself. The villages of Hawkshead and Coniston are close by for shops and cafés. Grizedale Forest has woodland activities, and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway runs steam trains from nearby Ulverston. No smoking indoors.
