About Moonfleet Manor Hotel

Weymouth's stretch of the Jurassic Coast makes a fine base for families, and Moonfleet Manor Hotel on Fleet Road leans into that with facilities built around children as much as adults. The 36 rooms include family options with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and sea views in parts of the property, along with accessible rooms and drinks available on request.

Downstairs there's a restaurant serving meals for adults and children alike, a bar, indoor swimming pool and an outdoor play area, plus a play barn that has become the property's main draw for younger guests. Childcare is available, and there's room service, laundry service and free WiFi throughout. Some upkeep issues have been noted around the wider facilities, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly rather than assuming everything is pristine.

Outside, the garden and outdoor seating look towards the coast, with walking routes, watersports, fishing and local pubs and restaurants all within reach nearby. The hotel also hosts weddings and meetings, and welcomes pets, with free on-site parking for those arriving by car.

Wow, what an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was just perfect elegant yet so welcoming. Every dish was a masterpiece, a true work of art both visually and in flavour. The ingredients were clearly topnotch, and the chef's creativity shone through in every bite. And the service? Impeccable. Attentive without being intrusive, and so knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. It was a truly unforgettable evening, and I can't recommend this restaurant enough for anyone looking for a truly special experience.

Had a very disappointing Mother’s Day afternoon tea. For £35 per head I had high expectations for service, presentation & the quality of the tea which were sadly not met. We were seated in the restaurant which had the atmosphere of a canteen. No menus on the table, very basic table setting. A little flower vase or decoration for Mother’s Day would have been nice. The serving staff were rushing around which felt frantic & although served drinks promptly, the afternoon tea itself took a long time to arrive, had to ask for my child’s drink & we had finished our tea by the time it did finally arrive. The staff seemed quite poorly trained in how to speak to customers & avoidant of checking on the table. The sandwiches, cakes & scones were average & we had to ask for extra cream & jam. An extra £15 service charge was added to the bill which we asked to have taken off, which they did so without issue. Positives - it was child friendly & we were given a complimentary pot of tea. And it did seem like a lovely setting & hotel. But we expected something a bit more for the price point.

Nice hotel, very kid friendly. Had a great time overall, but did have some issues. Play barn is great, breakfast is good, room was spacious and nicely done. Swimming pool is a bit tired, but looks like a big new one is being built next door which is exciting. Main issues we had were no dressing gowns in the room, not sure why. There were 5 of us (2 adults, 3 kids) but only had 4 towels in the room, ended up just taking some extras from the pool. Went to rabbit feeding at 1.35 on Friday but there was nobody there. Dinner food is OK, decent pub level food rather than top restaurant level but it's not bad, but not the best value. Milk in the fridge would have been helpful, with 1yo twins the thimble of semi skimmed in the fridge lasted around 0.2 feeds, ended up going to sainsburys to get milk rather than walk round the hotel for half an hour at 5am as I did on Friday looking for someone who could locate some milk.

We’ve just had a brilliant week at Moonfleet Manor with our toddler & baby. It’s a fantastic hotel for families — really well set up for young children with a huge play barn, swimming pool, outdoor play area, cinema room and loads of games inside. There is also a nursery (The Den) but we didn’t make use of the complimentary childcare. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Karen, who was lovely and gave us great tips for exploring Weymouth, and Reece, who couldn’t have done more for us and was super helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with lots of storage and thoughtful touches like a nappy bin, baby changing mat & baby bath. You can also call reception any time to get hot milk for the kids, and they also clean & sterilise all bottles, which was brilliant. They have really thought of everything to help take the daily stresses away! The hotel itself is calm and relaxing, with plenty of cosy spots to sit and enjoy a coffee. We was impressed with how good the food was in the restaurant, really tasty & good menu. The location is great too, close to lots of places to visit within an hour’s drive. The only small thing we noticed was that reception could sometimes use an extra person, as there were a few times when there was no one there and you had to wait a while or go & find someone to help. They could also do with a waiter dedicated to the lounge areas. But overall, everyone was so kind and helpful that it didn’t take away from our stay at all. We had a wonderful week and would definitely recommend Moonfleet Manor to any family looking for a relaxing getaway in Dorset! We’ll be back!!
