A characterful pub-hotel on West Street in Weymouth, with 14 rooms and a restaurant known for hearty roasts and gluten-free options.

About The Lugger Inn

The Lugger Inn is a traditional pub-style hotel on West Street in Weymouth, with the kind of solid, homely character that comes with a proper local. It has 14 rooms, making it a compact and easy-going base rather than a large resort, and it sits within reach of the Jurassic Coast for anyone keen to explore Dorset's coastline.

Rooms come with free WiFi and air conditioning, and there's luggage storage for those arriving before check-in or leaving after check-out. The restaurant and bar are a real focus here, serving hearty roast dinners and spicy chicken burgers alongside a good range of gluten-free choices, and breakfast is included as part of the stay. The atmosphere is friendly and prices are reasonable, though some guests have found the management slow to respond to queries.

The Lugger Inn also doubles as a wedding venue and has meeting rooms available, useful for small gatherings or functions. Free on-site parking makes it a practical stop for those touring by car, with Weymouth's seafront and town centre both within easy striking distance.

Just stopped by for lunch at the Lugger Inn for lunch and very impressed. My wife is gluten intolerant and they had various GF options. We both ordered the spicy chicken burger and it was absolutely delicious and very large. Lovely pub, great food and great service. Highly recommended.

Absolutely disgraceful and completely thieving business! If I could give less than 1 star I would. I stayed at this Pub in Dec 25 and the accommodation was booked and paid for weeks prior with a well known and reputable third party. Upon arrival it was questioned whether I had paid for the accommodation and I advised the lady that yes it was paid for already and I showed her the receipt. She said no problem and acknowledged that it had been paid. Upon checkout, I was waiting to be served and I saw another couple in front of me who were also questioning why they were being charged, as they had also paid their bill weeks earlier. They also provided a receipt providing proof of payment to the staff member. The employee explained to them that their computer system is down and nothing is working properly at the moment and there are often issues. She told them not to worry and the accommodation bill would be removed. She then tried to charge them an additional amount for apparent in room food charges but could not provide an explanation as to what the charges were for. After this abysmal example of customer service, I then saw a third couple after me complain about the exact same thing. Yet again, additional charges trying to be laid when they had already been paid. When it came time for me to check out, the lady behind the bar confirmed that my bill had been paid and she also took a screenshot of the receipt and said she’d pass it onto the manager. The manager was due to arrive in half an hour and the staff member said I could wait to see her to sort it. We were in a hurry but I waited around anyway as I didn’t want any issues. She was due in at 10 but after waiting until 10:15 when she still hadn’t arrived, we had to leave. The employee apologised profusely and said as least you know it’s just a system error. She took my phone number and then promised the Manager would call me back and of course I did not get a call. A couple of days later I saw on my credit card statement that I had been charged for the accommodation again and it had been entered as a manual transaction from the Lugger Inn. I tried to call multiple times and sent emails requesting the return of my funds but I heard absolutely nothing back. The Lugger Inns practises are nothing short of criminal and it took me weeks to eventually get the funds reimbursed from my bank. Don’t be fooled by these people. They completely rip off anyone they can and then refuse to communicate in anyway. I also overheard 3 staff members behind the bar constantly whining about the Manager ‘Rachel’ who doesn’t turn up on time, do her job or clearly get back to customers! How they are still running any sort of business is beyond me! Avoid!

We stayed here so we could visit family who were staying at Littlesea. Our motorhome needed a new clutch and Haven were so inflexible about dates for booking on site we had to look further afield. I would definitely recommend this pub. The atmosphere is great and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and the food was very good and reasonably priced.

Third visit to The Lugger Inn and they did not disappoint. Liam and his staff were so friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and clean. The food was incredible and reasonably priced. My friend and I really enjoyed the live bands that played over the weekend. Warm and inviting atmosphere all round. Looking forward to our next visit.
