What visitors say
Great experience here going on a horseriding trek. Did the 1h trek as my husband is a complete beginner and they were so lovely and accommodating about it. Their horses are so very well kept and taken care of. Very beautiful forest behind the centre as well with a wildflower field Really easy to book I just emailed in and paid the deposit with Wise transfer. Would recommend to any visitors to the Peak District!!

Yesterday was my second time here (1st ride was 2 hour canter ride and 2nd was the forest trek), and both times have been fantastic! Very friendly staff, with Becky leading both times - she even remembered that I'd mentioned I love a chunky cob after my first ride and paired me with Duke the second time. The horses are so well behaved, well looked after and clearly enjoy what they do. They are so lucky to have such beautiful hacking around, practically all off road, which makes for a really relaxing experience. I'll definitely be back again!

Sweet horses, would recommend for novice riders for SMALL groups. Large groups - riders at the back are forgotten about / ignored... Booked a trek back in April, great communication with Nicki via email who asked all about my previous experience (which includes working on showing yards / eventing / breaking in youngsters, and still owning horses etc), and I explained I'd had nearly a 3 year break from riding whilst having a family but that I lived and breathed horses before having a family. We spoke about family / children & I explained I wanted a faster paced ride to have a bit of fun and get me back into it. Given the heat situation, I emailed them 2 days before my ride to check if they'd be moving lessons, and I offered to arrive earlier to ride before the hot weather kicked in. The instructor messaged me back thanking me and said yes please. I only wish Sunday had been a better experience. Unfortunately Nicki was away. I arrived to be told they had joined my ride (that they said was initially planned to be just me & the instructor), onto another ride (of 4 people that were booked for a 3 hour trek later in the day), meaning there were now 5 people plus the instructor on it, I was put on a horse who I was told 'probably won't canter & will do a fast trot' which I thought was odd given I'd booked a canter ride. I was told to hold him back until everyone had gone and then let him go, which I did and he did manage some cantering with some encouragement! He was a real sweetie, and he certainly knew his assignment, when to go and when to stop - an excellent trekking horse for novice rider. The main downside for me is that when deciding the order of the ride, the instructor decided to put me & the only other rider who hadnt been here before at the back of the ride, and keep the 3 regular ladies at the front with her. They clearly all knew each other & the instructor spent the whole ride chatting with them and didn't speak to me or the lady behind me at all, other than every now and again asking if we are ready to canter. I would have thought it was a better idea to put the 2 riders who don't know anyone with the instructor at the front and the 3 that clearly knew each other at the back so that at least she could have chatted with us and got to know us a bit while the others still had each other to talk to. Was a shame as I think I could have had a very different experience if the rides weren't joined together & the instructor had made more effort to talk to me, but I definitely felt forgotten about at the back of a large ride. When I dismounted at the end the instructor overheard me joking to a family member saying I was aching after nearly 3 years off and she was surprised and questioned 'you've had 3 years off?' so I don't think she had even read my emails to Nicki about my previous riding experience. 😒
