Families and larger groups will find The Old Lodge a practical base for exploring the Wiltshire countryside. The property sleeps six across three bedrooms—a kingsize with ensuite, a double, and two singles—with two bathrooms serving the household. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. The kitchen has a full electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine, making self-catering straightforward, and there is a woodburner in both the main living room and kitchen/dining space. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed.
Set in Fonthill Gifford near Stroud, The Old Lodge was originally the gatehouse to the Beckford Estate. The building retains its character—exposed beams and flagstone floors run through the interior—while the enclosed garden and patio offer a private outdoor space with seating and a barbecue. On-site parking fits two cars. Minchinhampton Old Course and the wider countryside provide scope for walking, and the village location puts you within reach of historic towns and sites across the region. No smoking is permitted inside.

What guests say
We had a wonderful summer wedding at The Old Lodge. We had previously eaten in the restaurant and loved its charm and cosy atmosphere and after viewing it as a potential wedding venue, knew it was the perfect place for us to get married. The venue coordinator (Jess) was amazingly responsive, answered all our questions and was extremely accommodating to our needs. The food was delicious, we had so much space (despite not having exclusive use of the venue), the space looked absolutely stunning and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and attentive. We were lucky to have beautiful sunshine so married outside which was perfect, the garden is delightful and so cared for. We had breakfast the next morning which was fantastic and the staff had gone above and beyond, decorating the table with our wedding flowers from the day before which was so thoughtful and made us feel incredibly special. Highly recommend The Old Lodge as a place to get married - it will be incredibly special. 5 stars

A lovely hotel and bar/restaurant. A beautiful building in a beautiful setting. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. It is an older building, 17th century, therefore some of the doorways are low, but that adds to the charm. The room was comfy and the breakfast delicious.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and at home. The hotel and pub offer an excellent experience in every way, with friendly staff, a warm atmosphere, and plenty of outdoor seating to relax and enjoy. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and family-friendly, with extra beds available for children when needed. The food was excellent, with a good selection of options for both vegetarians and vegans. Breakfast was equally enjoyable, offering a delicious start to the day. Whether you're looking for a place to stay, enjoy a meal, or simply stop by for a drink, this is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

I was able to dress the tables to my liking with assistance from the staff on the morning😊 The wedding Breakfast menu is varied and the food very nicely presented and piping hot. Welcome 🍸 served under the pagoda and my chosen music playing in the background. It was perfect 👌🏻. Jess and all the staff were brilliant. Would highly recommend
