We visited the Dog & Fox recently and were really pleased with how much it has improved since our last visit a while back. Previously, we hadn’t had the best experience — service was lacking and the place didn’t feel particularly clean. This time, however, it was completely different. The pub felt fresh, well looked after, and much more inviting overall. The service was very good — attentive without being overbearing, and the team made us feel genuinely welcome throughout. The furniture is also worth mentioning: comfortable, well-spaced, and perfect for settling in and relaxing for a proper catch-up. We tried a couple of dishes and both were excellent. The Asian-style chicken dish was full of flavour — tender pieces of chicken coated in a rich, slightly sticky glaze, balanced nicely with fresh ribbons of cucumber that added a crisp, refreshing contrast. Really well put together. The cauliflower burger with tzatziki was another highlight — nicely cooked with a good texture, not too heavy, and the tzatziki brought a cool, creamy freshness that worked perfectly with the dish. Overall, a big improvement from before — cleaner, better service, and genuinely enjoyable food. A great local spot to relax with a drink and some food. We’ll definitely be returning.

Great location. Great pub. Breakfast had a decent variety and cooked breakfast was a good size. Room was very clean, tidy and comfortable. Bathroom and Shower likewise. Room and bathroom were also a good size. Room was quiet given we were right on the high street. The welcome shortbread in the room was the only very small negative. It was inedible. Rock hard so suspect staff need to make sure and change it whether guests consume or not! Staff everywhere were all very friendly and helpful from check in to check out and service in between, even producing a life saving safety pin at very short notice! Thanks again. Would thoroughly recommend.

Came to have dinner and celebrate my birthday with my family. I got a call before my booking informing us that due to a busy lunch, they ran out of roasts which was OK as there was still stuff from the normal menu. I was very happily surprised when I got there and told that they actually had 4 roasts left for us! The food was gorgeous, and the service was absolutely fantastic. I forgot the chaps name, but it was a young guy, and he was very attentive, helpful, and showed genuine care. As someone who is a floor supervisor at a pub, I can say without a doubt that this chap is a fantastic part of your team and you should all be very proud of him. The place is really nice and well decorated. It was my first time in this pub, and I am happy to say that I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you for such an amazing evening!

Had my wedding reception here. Staff were amazing from start to finish, so attentive and all round excellent service. Great communication before hand to coordinate all the meals. Food was lovely and they even helped to cut and serve the wedding cake. Would highly recommend for events and parties. A special thank you to the North American waitress with blonde hair for her stellar service and for being so friendly and helpful.
