Mallard Cottage is an 18th-century Grade II listed building that began life as an ale house. Set on a quiet terrace at the edge of Winchester, it has been restored to preserve its original character—exposed beams and stone walls remain—while meeting modern expectations. The cottage is yours alone, sleeping 4 across two king-bedded rooms, each with an ensuite shower and heated towel rail.
Downstairs, an open-plan living area contains a smart TV and electric woodburner. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking: electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, breakfast bar and fridge-freezer. Bi-fold doors open from the dining space onto a patio that overlooks the garden; a river runs along the boundary, roughly 50 yards away. The whole garden is enclosed and lawned, with furniture provided. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. Off-street parking for one car is on site. The property does not permit smoking.
Winchester's city centre is within walking distance. Children under 14 only. Two steps lead to the entrance.
