What visitors say
Thanks for a wonderful visit! The staff/volunteers were very helpful and friendly, and the visit was very affordable. The kids enjoyed visiting, especially going into some of the old buses and playing on 'Ernie' the kids playbus. The highlight was the included bus ride - ours was a classic double decker, taking around 25 mins. There is lots of information on the history of trams (horse draw, electric, motor), charabancs, and buses right up to modern day with lots of associated items. And check out the bicycle and Morris motor museum at the same time! Take it at your own pace or the kids, we did a light browse to appeas everyone. Our visit lasted around 3hrs, including morning coffee and a lunch in the cafe - was very reasonable, with simple homemade sandwiches, with profits going directly to the museum.

Oxford Bus Museum is a great place to visit if you have an interest in transport history. It’s a volunteer run museum and the passion shows in the way the vehicles and exhibits are presented. There is a good range of buses on display, from fully restored examples to ones currently being worked on, which gives you a real sense of the effort that goes into preserving them. The museum also includes the Morris Motors section, which tells the story of William Richard Morris and how the company developed from early vehicles and cycles built in his garage to a major British car manufacturer. It adds an extra layer of local history that makes the visit more interesting. The museum itself is not huge, but there is still plenty to see and read about, and you can easily spend around an hour looking around. The volunteers were friendly and happy to answer questions, which adds to the experience. If you’re hoping to take a ride on one of the vintage buses, it’s worth checking in advance as they only run on certain days. Overall, it’s a small but enjoyable museum that’s well worth a visit, especially if you enjoy buses or local transport history.

This is a hidden gem of a museum. A true example of volunteers keeping a collection alive. Hidden in a small village, open 1 or 2 days a week. It has some marvelous vehicles to look over. Ongoing restoration you can watch and a little cafe and shop. All ren by volunteers. A great couple of hours were had here, the lovely ladies in the shop/cafe were sweet, as were the hand made sandwiches we had for lunch. A great fun time.

Yesterday we took the kids here as the weather was good and it was open on Easter Sunday. I am so glad we went because we had the most wonderful time. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who gave us all the information about how best to proceed around the museum. We bumped into an Easter bunny who was happy to tell us about the Easter events. At 2:15 there was a free bus ride in a beautiful vintage double decker bus, it was a glorious trip around the local area, lots of beautiful countryside and the bus stopped part way through the trip so we could take photographs. One of the volunteers came around with a vintage ticket machine issuing tickets to passengers, my kids were delighted. After our trip we took part in a free Easter chick hunt, we had to find 12 chicks that were dotted around the exhibits, it was great fun. We then had a brilliant time looking at all the different buses through the years, there were lots to look at and it was very informative and interactive. Some of the buses were open for visitors to go on and take a look, one of the buses looked exactly like me old school bus and bought back great memories. There was a children's play area that included a miniature bus that children could get inside and pretend to drive. There was also a great little area for smaller children too, filled with little toy buses. There was a book section and a creative area where you could produce crayon rubbings of old buses. There's also a Morris Minor section and a bike section which was an added bonus, we enjoyed learning about the local history of the car and bike industry. We didn't get a chance to try out the cafe or look in the shop because we were having so much fun, we didn't realise that it was closing time but we will definitely be coming back as it was a brilliant, joyful, fun family day out and very reasonably priced with free parking . If you are nearby, you must visit this beautiful gem of a museum.
