About The Oak Inn
Tucked behind a handsome 17th-century pub just outside Defford, this supremely peaceful spot offers a handful of no-frills gravel pitches for motorhomes and campervans – no hookups, no shower block, just countryside tranquility and views toward the Malvern Hills and Bredon Hill. The real draw is the pub itself: refuel after a day exploring the nearby Avon or Severn riverbanks with a proper meal in the restaurant, local ale or cider at the bar, or a dram from the well-stocked gin selection. There's even a covered outdoor seating area for those inevitable drizzly evenings.
Barbecues are welcome back at your pitch, and the farm shop across the road supplies ingredients if you fancy doing your own cooking. It's an ideal base for walkers, festival-goers heading to Upton upon Severn, or anyone seeking a simple, scenic overnight stop with excellent hospitality on tap – though be prepared to manage without on-site facilities beyond the pub's toilets.

Was there for Fathers Day lunch. Excellent food with friendly and efficient service. Great value for money too. There is always a cheery welcome. The landlord has recently taken over the pub so it is still very much work in progress but given the number of locals that eat there that is some recommendation.

Booked in for Good Friday Fish Night. Lovely menu, fish and chips if you wanted to ho traditional (huge portions!) or other v tasty options. We had Devilled Whitebait starter, nice and crisp, tangy dip, and amazing haddock main - quite unusual but v tasty! Honestly, restaurant quality food at pub prices! Great service, v friendly, as always!

We stopped over in our campervan for a delicious dinner and a nights stay (having called ahead to check) and had a brilliant time. Lovely manager who was very warm and welcoming, home-made food that was very tasty and a peaceful night sleep on flat ground with birdsong in the morning. Couldn't recommend enough, great place for a stopover or a meal, or pop in for a drink! 😊

Mike, the landlord, was so friendly and helpful at the Oak Inn. It is a small sociable pub of locals who are great at bringing you into conversations. There are 2 smaller rooms at the front and then a large room at the back often used for private functions. There is a small car park at the front. Then there is a large enclosed car park at the rear with room for 6-10 campervans and motor homes. These are allowed to park up overnight for free. With the agreement that you buy food and drink. I had two pints of cider and scampi & chips for £21. Mike is so generous and very considerate and does not like to turn anyone away. I was his last customer @9.30 and just setting my bill, when another van owner rang at 9.30 pm to say they could be there at 10.30 pm. Rather than say no and close early, he stayed open for them. Obviously, no food was being served at that time, so there's virtually no time for him to make any sales. So, hopefully, they bought a couple of bottles of wine to make it worth his while. He was selling bottles of prosecco for £10. Do stop at the place for a lovely, friendly stop over or drink. The menu is quite small but a good portion and very tasty. Excellent value all round.... Thank you, Mike, for your excellent hospitality.
