Fancy spending your break among alpacas? Head to the north Wales village of Tanyfron for a stay at Gwenfro Alpacas, where the woolly residents wander freely around the pitches, giving guests the fabulous chance to get to know these friendly and characterful animals up close.

The alpacas are the main draw, but you could equally come to this tiny pop-up site for the peaceful, car-free atmosphere. There are hammocks, swing chairs and outdoor seats for lounging, plus campfire and barbecue spots scattered among the tree-lined pitches. You'll unload at a layby about 100 metres away, then move your vehicle to free street parking in the village—a small trade-off for the tranquil vibe.

Families are very welcome, with a play area, nearby woods and an adjacent park to keep kids entertained. The owners can also arrange archery, shooting or bushcraft sessions on request. Despite the rural setting, a couple of villages within a mile provide shops and pubs, while Wrexham—home to the famed football club—is only ten minutes' drive for bigger amenities.
