About The Fauconberg Arms

Anyone after a low-key stopover with a good dinner rather than a big hotel experience should look at The Fauconberg Arms. Set on Thirsk Bank in North Yorkshire, close to York, it's a traditional pub with just eight rooms, making it better suited to couples, walkers or travellers passing through than large groups or conference stays.

Rooms are comfortable rather than lavish, and the focus here is really on the pub downstairs, where the kitchen turns out hearty dishes including a well-liked steak and ale pie, along with a Sunday lunch, and the menu caters to common dietary needs. Breakfast is served on-site, there's a bar, a garden and picnic area, and a resident pub cat adds to the relaxed, welcoming feel. Prices are reasonable and the staff are consistently friendly and attentive.

Guests also have access to an indoor swimming pool, a small gym, free WiFi and free on-site parking, plus meeting rooms and business services for those combining work with a stay. Pets are welcome, and the surrounding area offers fishing, cycling and nearby restaurants, making it a practical base for exploring North Yorkshire at an easy pace.

We booked to have Sunday lunch at this lovely pub. The food was exceptional, hot and cooked to perfection. Our first time here to view the open gardens in the village. What a find this will definitely be a favourite place to visit. A traditional pub with friendly staff and great service. Highly recommend this pub you won't be disappointed.

What a gem of a place to find - really olde world. My wife and I had a Sunday lunch here and the food was fabulous and lots of it. The service was spot on, efficient and very attentive with the staff making us really welcome. We had our border collie girl with us and she was made a fuss of as well! I couldn’t finish all of my delicious dinner so the staff very kindly gave us a doggy bag to take away with us! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our food and if we ever find ourselves in the area we would definitely eat there again.

The food was excellent, as was the beer. We had starters and mains and enjoyed some time in the incredibly picturesque beer garden afterwards. The staff were fantastic, the food was amazing and we will be returning. thanks again!

We went here for a meal last night (Thursday ), we had a B & B further up the road. The owner of the B& B said that we should book, good job, it was busy. All tables full inside Service and food was very good. Food especially, very hot and tasty. My wife had the steak pie, I had a little taste, great If your ever in the area of Coxwold and want food call there. Hopefully we'll be back soon Compliments to the chef
