About Hillhead Caravan Park
Hillhead Caravan Park sits in the heart of Aberdeenshire's castle country, just a mile off the A96 between Aberdeen and Inverness. It's a well-maintained, peaceful site that puts you within striking distance of Scotland's Castle Trail—Craigievar Castle is half an hour away—and the Malt Whisky Trail, which winds into the Grampian Highlands around 55 minutes north. Aberdeen itself, with its harbour, sandy beach and Old Town museums, is half an hour by car.
The site offers grass and hardstanding pitches, some electric, plus modern toilet and shower blocks. Facilities cover the essentials—launderette, wifi, chemical disposal—and there's a play area for families. Barbecues are allowed, and dogs are welcome year-round. The nearest shop is five minutes' drive for stocking up on picnic supplies.
While it can feel a little tired in places, Hillhead makes a solid base for exploring distilleries, castles and the walking trails that lace the surrounding hills. Public transport stops nearby, and there are numerous outdoor pursuits within easy reach—cycling, fishing, golf and watersports among them.

What a hidden gem. Only 5min cycle from Kintore train station so also convenient for local shops and takeaways. The site itself is nice and quiet. Well maintained with a nice fountain upon arrival. Owner is lovely and thank you for helping with ehu. Toilet and shower clean. Fresh drinking water at touring site. Absolutely love it here

Lovely campsite with a mixture of standings to accommodate everyone. They even have a dedicated disabled space with a pathway which leads directly onto the rest of the site for ease of use. All hard standings are very generous in size with electric hookups and there are spaces for tents also with electric hookups. Couldn’t fault the facilities, clean and tidy. There is also a large play apparatus for children. You can even do some nature watching - currently watching the rabbits running over the adjacent field. Lots to recommend.

Nice touring site, others have commented on the poor state of the shower block, planning application been in for 3yrs for a new block, shop and cafe, neighbour keeps objecting, planning meeting 27/4/26, wishing her the best of luck. Would go back.
