About Haughton Holiday Park
This Aberdeenshire gem unfolds within the wooded estate of an elegant mansion house, where acres of trails wind through mature woodland and along the River Don. Pitches range from small non-electric grass spots to fully-serviced hardstanding, spread across grounds that feel genuinely spacious and peaceful. Dogs are welcome year-round and will particularly enjoy the riverside paths, plus access to the courtyard coffee shop – one of two on site, the other housed in the mansion alongside reception and a well-stocked shop.
Facilities cover all the practical bases: heated washrooms with wheelchair-accessible options, launderette, drying room, playground, and motorhome services. The setting alone justifies a visit, but Alford village adds real value with its transport museum, ski centre, golf course and pump track. From here you're well placed for Cairngorms hiking, distillery tours and National Trust properties, with Aberdeen less than an hour's drive. Some visitors note facilities can feel a little tired in places, but the generous space and sylvan surroundings more than compensate.

What visitors say
Huge improvement by new management since 2022. Before 2022 this was a tired and run down site. The new management said they were running a program of improvements so we decide to return April 2026. There are significant improvements, they've done a lot of work. Yes there's still work to do but the site is now a welcoming friendly site with a cafe in the hall and plenty of walks all around. The facilities building is tired, but the facilities inside are clean and perfectly usable. We went to enjoy the country park and surrounding area and it didn't disappoint. Well done to the new management for the work they've achieved so far and we look forward to returning and watching the progress over the next few years.

We stayed here in a touring caravan, so for 'room' read 'pitch' and ours was fine, with water and electricity on the pitch itself. The site is very spacious, clean quiet and well maintained. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I'm sure we'll be back for another long weekend before long.

We were pretty disappointed with our stay. We were only on the site an hour and were told we could park the van by our tent, we couldn’t drive a certain way round the site even though we were new to it and didn’t know. Then we had a visit from the warden telling us our tents were to close which was never a problem at any other sites. We went away for the weekend for a bit of relaxation and that’s what happened. Also you need a code to get into the toilet which to me was too much. Nice location but having to drive out the site onto the main road and back in to get to the shop etc was very strange. The grass was very muddy and not well looked after. All in all not a great weekend for us.

Lovely winter stay. Great friendly place to visit. Cute train to the town though prebooking is required. Lovely cafe with open fire. Had a cooked breakfast which was brilliant. Can't say any more but thanks . Oh and the Christmas lights and decorations around the site were fantastic, we really appreciate your hard work..
