Boghead Holiday Cottages - The Byre
Aberdeenshire

Lumsden sits between Alford and Huntly, with enough to occupy a few hours—the village has a shop, garage, children's playpark and a sculpture trail threading through the countryside. The Byre is a converted steading on a working farm just outside, sleeping six across three bedrooms, each with its own shower room. Everything is on the ground floor with no internal steps, and the property has been designed for wheelchair users, with accessible wet room facilities including grab rails and a fold-down shower seat in the main bedroom.
The open-plan living space holds a dining table for six, a woodburning stove and patio doors onto a patio with a BBQ. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Two of the bedrooms have zip-and-link kingsize beds that can split into singles; the third has a double. Parking is available for three cars on site, there's an electric car charging point, and an external drying room doubles as storage for bikes and sports kit. One well-behaved dog can stay free, though must be kept on a lead as the property sits on a working farm. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are all included, as are the initial logs for the stove.

A wonderful stay here over New Year 24/25! Loved the underfloor heating (easy to use/completely normal operation -clear written and verbal instructions offered) and the log burner was a real unexpected treat (wasn’t pictured specifically in photos so was a surprise for us!). Cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy and everything we expected was provided (with clear instructions in visitor manual). There was even a Christmas tree! 😍🎄 We were also impressed by the cottage’s accessibility / disabled facilities. Plenty of parking available. Village in easy walking distance, if you wanted to do the Sculpture Trail (we did and enjoyed the suggested circular walk). Fiona and Thomas were hospitable and attentive hosts. They kindly gave us a farm tour, which we greatly enjoyed (vintage tractors and machinery on display, stunning scenery, cows, sheep, ducks, working dogs and a cute puppy!). 10/10 would stay here again if visiting the area and would recommend to friends and family.

Wonderful stay, all the rooms were lovely and the kitchen well equipped. WiFi and heating were excellent and we particularly enjoyed the fireplace. The hosts were also brilliant and very welcoming.

Really comfortable spacious well equipped cottage . It's in a quiet peaceful location but not far off a main road so great base for visiting Aberdeenshire. . The only minor niggle was the poor WiFi signal. Many thanks for the tasty welcome pack

This accessible cottage has lovely surroundings and is dog friendly. All rooms have en suite and the wet room is very good. The host is friendly and helpful. There were lovely welcome gifts when we arrived. Would highly recommend.
