About The Hog's Head

Tucked behind a traditional family-run pub in rural Monmouthshire, The Hog's Head offers a handful of fully-serviced hardstanding pitches with electric, water and drainage hook-ups – perfect for tourers exploring South Wales. The facilities punch above their weight: visitors rave about shower and toilet blocks that feel more hotel than campsite, while the pub itself serves excellent beer by a warming log fire (though it's wet trade only, so no food). Dogs are welcome year-round, and the peaceful setting amid beautiful scenery makes this a gem for walkers.

The long-distance Offa's Dyke Path runs just past the site, leading to the River Trothy's forested banks or the medieval ruins of Whitecastle fortress. Views stretch to Sugar Loaf and the distant peaks of the Brecon Beacons. For non-walkers, nearby options include horse riding, golf, and tours at White Castle Vineyard. Abergavenny's historic market town is a 15-minute drive. Friendly, helpful management complete the picture.

Just stayed 2 nights. Should have been 3, but the weather convinced us not to. Loved the site! Friendly and helpful owner Dale who met us on arrival. The toilets were very clean and the showers were proper showers. Enjoyed a drink at the pub and was thrilled to be shown a classic American truck. That was a bonus. Some reviews mentioned the small roads leading to the site. We found the roads no worse than roads we have taken in Devon and Cornwall even with a dual axel extra wide caravan. We highly recommend this site.

We had a great stay in our campervan. One of my favourite sites. The toilets/shower rooms were not like your typical campsite; more like home! The owner is an absolute gem of a guy and he looked after us very well. Lovely pub with good beer and you can order a take away; we were given plates and cutlery and didn’t have to wash up either. Great atmosphere inside the pub. Lovely locals. Friendly people. Stunning log fire. We were toasty going back to the cold van for the night’s stay. Can’t wait to go back! It will be soon…

We visited the campsite with a touring caravan. A very peaceful and tranquil site, with fantastic views of surrounding countryside, not too far from Monmouth and Abergavenny. Fully serviced pitches and very well kept facilities. Dog friendly which is a must for us, and the owners couldn’t be more welcoming and helpful. The on-site country pub is a super added bonus, whilst no food is available there were no end of recommendations from the wonderful staff. We’ll certainly be going back!

I recently stayed at The Hogs Head in my camper van over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May and it truly exceeded all of my expectations. This is hands down one of the best campsites I’ve ever visited. The picturesque setting is stunning, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquility. The facilities are impeccably clean and well-maintained. The showers and toilets were spotless, and the communal areas, including the fantastic onsite pub, were great. What truly sets Hogs Head apart, though, is the staff. They were incredibly helpful and hospitable, going out of their way to ensure that all our needs were met and that we had an enjoyable stay. Whether you're an experienced camper or new to the experience, Hogs Head has something for everyone. The site is well laid out, with ample space for each pitch, ensuring a peaceful and private experience. The surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for exploration and adventure, making it a perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts. I highly recommend Hogs Head campsite to anyone looking for a top-notch camping experience in a beautiful location. The dedication of the staff to provide exceptional service truly makes this place stand out. I can’t wait to return for another stay!
