About The River's Edge

Tucked just outside Pandy near Abergavenny, The River's Edge doubles as a welcoming pub and campsite — and it's the food that really stands out. Sunday roasts and homemade pies draw rave reviews, with plenty of gluten-free options and a cosy log fire to settle beside afterwards. The 28 pitches (electric grass and hardstanding) are spacious and well-kept, facilities are spotless, and the friendly staff know how to make campers feel at home.

It's a handy base for exploring the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains — walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers will find trails on the doorstep. Dogs are welcome year-round, and there's even accessible facilities including wheelchair-friendly showers and step-free access throughout. The only minor grumble? Some visitors note the pub can get busy at peak times, so booking ahead is wise if you're after a table.

Great weekend - What a fantastic weekend. The site is so peaceful, has everything you need. Paul and his staff are very friendly and helpful. The pub is excellent, food is amazing and large portions. Drinks are reasonably priced. We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend and live music on Saturday night. Will definitely be returning and recommend highly.

We just had the loveliest evening. At first, we were a bit hesitant because it was quiet, but once we went inside, it blew us away. The food was absolutely fantastic—so much more filling than we expected. The pork was insanely tender, practically falling apart (get the pork, honestly), and the sauce and vegetables were just a perfect mix. The service was so very friendly, and the atmosphere was really inviting, even with it being quieter than usual. The place was spotless, with a lovely interior. Highly, highly recommend—this place deserves all the praise!

April 2026 We had previously booked the Secret Menu and a night’s camping. Un be-knowing to us when we arrived the event has been cancelled and there was no record of our camping booking. Despite this the owner was most welcoming and apologetic and immediately booked us both in on the campsite and in the restaurant for an evening meal. The meal was absolutely stunning! the staff were warm, friendly and attentive and the restaurant beautifully laid out. The campsite was a real credit to the site. Well maintained, spotlessly clean with well spaced pitches and services. Toilet and showers spotless too with heated interiors and automated courtesy lighting. It’s obvious a lot of time and money has been spent on this site and it’s a real credit to the owners. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. We shall be back for sure…..

Was staying locally whilst passing through. Decided to pop in for a meal. Had a lovely beef pie with vegetables and chips. For starters we had chicken tenders and a dip. Finished with a lemon tart and Eton mess. Everything was delicious and cooked very well. The chicken tenders were actually crispy with succulent chicken inside, the chips were also crispy and fluffy Inside, none of that soggy texture! The pie was delicious, lovely beef with a cheese pastry and rich red onion gravy. The service was quick and efficient. If we stayed longer than one night we would have come back.
