About Cardigan Bay Guest House

Cardigan Bay Guest House starts the day with breakfast on site and keeps guests happy into the evening with its own bar and outdoor seating, a handy setup for anyone not wanting to head out after a day on the coast. Drinks can also be brought to the room, and room service is available alongside 24 hour reception, so arrival times and odd hours aren't a problem.

Rooms are en-suite, with family rooms available and many offering sea views over Cardigan Bay. The property is set on Marine Terrace in Aberystwyth, with the seafront on the doorstep. It should be said that some rooms show their age and could do with better upkeep, though this is offset by the value the guest house offers and the range of amenities on hand, from free WiFi to luggage storage and a meeting room.

Staff are consistently helpful, and the location works well for exploring the area on foot or by bike, with walking and cycling routes nearby along with golf and fishing. Pubs, restaurants and entertainment are all within easy reach, and pets are welcome too.

The staff we're friendly when we arrived and at first glance everything seemed ok until I went in the room. The carpet was worn in one place. The door had a gap at the bottom of it. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling and the wallpaper was peeling off in places. The curtains didn't close fully and stop the light from coming in and the floor in the bathroom sloped toward the carpet. Only good thing was the view we had as we had a room with a sea view. Not sure i would stay there again and dont think it was worth the money we paid for it. Didn't bother complaining to the staff as there was nowhere else to go really and would have cost us more money

This hotel clearly needs a lot of work done. Rooms are poorly maintained and poorly cleaned. My windows are covered in bird poo and only open about 3 cm. I can hear everything going on in the rooms around me. The linens are also covered in what I'm hoping is just dirt. Not even having fans available in a heatwave was certainly a choice. I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. Don't go here.

AVOID - We booked a seafront room at Cardigan Bay Guest House but were instead given a small, tired room at the back of their neighbouring sister property, Celtic Bay. On arrival, we requested at reception for the seafront room we had originally paid for, but were told this was not possible because the hotel was fully booked. The room we were given had numerous issues and we had a very uncomfortable stay. The mattress was badly damaged, sloping badly from one end to the other. The bed headboard was broken. Our shower room light did not work (meaning we had to leave the door open to see while showering). The Wi-Fi did not work. The carpet was badly worn and in need of replacement, and the toilet constantly dripped and leaked onto the floor. There were also only two hangers in the closet which meant it was difficult to store our clothes. To compensate, staff offered us a £20 voucher to use at their cafe. However, equating to just £5 per person per night, this did not feel like a fair resolution given that we had not received the room we booked and had experienced so many problems during our stay. We sent an email to contact the manager and were offered a free night’s stay on a future visit - one we will not make. Overall, we were very disappointed. Having read other reviews, it appears that we are not the only guests to have experienced this issue. Do not risk booking here.

Nice little guest house. Does not do breakfast. There is a kitchen where you can make food though. Stayed on the top floor, which had an ensuite. Was clean and cheep for what you get. Rooms could do with a little updating as some wallpaper was coming loose, however for the price a very good deal
